Skirt as a Dress, Western Edition
I love getting more wear out of my closet and one fun way to transform your maxi skirts is to wear them as a dress. This works best if your maxi has an elastic waistband. You do not have to belt your maxi, however each time I have worn mine as a dress, I have added a belt to define the waist. Since I took these pictures at the end of September, it was still warm, so while I wanted to wear my boots, I settled on wearing my sandals to church. I am still sharing both outfits.
Skirt with Boots

I love my boots and my husband has hinted that he will be looking for a fun pair for me when he travels to the northwest again! These tan one have been a favorite of mine and I love finding different outfits to wear them with. He did bring me back the belt from Idaho and I was very pleased as I was hoping to thrift a leather belt with turquoise accents. Score!

I have worn both the earrings and boots with my maxi before, it’s just a great combo! I really don’t wear this purse much because everything gets lost in it, but the fringe and patterned fabric lends themselves well to this outfit.

Skirt with Sandals
I added a picture with a close up of my accessories: this is my 50th birthday present that I chose at our local western museum. It really is pretty! This is the outfit I wore to church and since the AC has been in use, the thrifted denim shirt worked out well: I was neither hot nor cold but very comfortable.

Wearing a skirt as a dress is not a new thing for me and here are a few more times I shared some on the blog.

What a great idea! I want to look if I have such a skirt now. I did have one once and indeed wore it as a dress. Love the boots under the dress/skirt! Have a great weekend.

Yes! When they are nice and long and with an elastic band, it is so easy!

Standing ovation for this trick. It’s so easy and looks so fabulous. I just saw this other content creator wear a belt at the top waistband which was a cool look. I’ll have to share it soon.
Love that necklace too…great taste.

I just try that! It would be fun to do with a thin belt I think!

These boots are such stunners! I love the belt, too. Boots with a lightweight dress or skirt are perfect this time of year!

I haven’t worn a skirt as a dress in a long time and need to try styling it that way again. Love this outfit so much! It’s such a gorgeous look!

I often forget about it, but it’s fun way to shorten a maxi skirt.

This is such a smart styling tip! It really makes those maxi skirts so much more versatile. I like that you demonstrated both versions, but the Skirt with Sandals version you wore to church is my favorite.
mimifce
Yes, and it kind of shortens the length!

I love this idea and would love to try it with some of my skirts!

It really works well when a maxi is almost to long but also with midi ones too I am sure.
