Restyling my Rust Skirt for Winter
I may like to wear some fun outfits, but I also enjoy wearing a simple outfit too! I wore this skirt this fall for a date look on my anniversary trip and knew I wanted to wear it again in the winter! I actually wore it on a cold fall afternoon a couple weeks ago, and decided to take advantage of of slow traffic downtown caused by a train on the tracks to take pictures outside the building of the Western museum.

I went for a simple look wearing a nice knit sweater from Loft my friend gave me recently, and chose my black boots to reflect the black in my scarf. The outfit is coordinated throughout (I chose the earrings to match my skirt) and while sometimes I choose wild combinations to create a fun outfit, sometimes it is nice to put together something simple.

This is not one of my warmest scarves, but it adds a little depth to the outfit and it has been a constant in my closet. It can be worn 3 out of 4 seasons and the print doesn’t go out of style. I have even worn it as a vest.

My Guess purse was a birthday present this year and I love it when I want something that can hold all of the things, but do not want to add color to my outfit. I usually wear it a couple weeks in a row before rotating to another one.

Since I am taking another shopping break, I will be having fun restyling things in my closet all of January. With the addition of sweaters and some coats/jackets, I really want to be mindful of not being wasteful and wear all of the things. I have a closet full of 3rd pieces: light jackets, vests, coats, wraps… It is time to make a conscious effort to shop my closet.

While I love thrifting and giving clothes a second chance, I have realized that sometimes I get caught up in the excitement of adding new to me things to my closet and can overconsume. That is the reason, you see me halting my visits to the thrift stores a month or two at a time.
A bientôt!

I almost never buy something new in January and February. The collections never speak to me then. And it’s a good thing to shop our closets isn’t it! Great skirt!

Yes! I put a jacket on today, that I kind of forgot about that I thrifted earlier this month! Back to being cold again here, so lots of fun sweater combos and jackets to wear!

Loved this look on IG today and again here on your blog. The leopard scarf was a great accessory to add. Your running sure shows in your pretty legs.

I haven’t run as much lately, but trying to keep on walking at least!

I am not one for pleats, but this one works!

Mireille, that is a darling outfit, simple but so stylish! I love the unusual style of pleats and the color of the skirt, and the way everything blends so beautifully. Plus, your earrings are the perfect accessory. January and February are not so inspiring for shopping usually, so it is a great time to get creative and shop your closet. I am looking forward to see the outfits you put together. Thanks for sharing, and happy new year to you and your family!

Thanks, Di! And to your family too! The thrift store was just getting too tempting for me with all of its treasures. I am looking forward to seeing how well I manage lol! It really does give me an opportunity to wear all of the things I have: I have so many good layers and jackets to wear!
