Horse ride and Overnight Trip at Brasstown Valley Resort
My husband and I spent a few days at the Brasstown Valley Resort for our anniversary last October and we really enjoyed the resort and location. I share about our trip in a post last month and while we were there, I thought that my boys would like coming over the Christmas break for a short overnight trip. I knew the decor would be pretty and I thought the boys would enjoy the amenities too.
Decor
I was right! The decor was beautiful! The lobby with its fireplace in use was very cozy, and we spent some time there playing Scrabble. I woke up early that morning and brought my book and enjoyed a complimentary coffee by the fire. There were several trees on every level and each was decorated in a different manner. They were in all shapes and sizes. There was a display of gingerbread houses made by the local 3rd grade school. We decided that it will be a new tradition for us to come spend one night here the week of Christmas.
Trail Horse Ride
The last time we took the boys on a guided horse ride was in the republic of Georgia and our ride was cut short when it started hailing on us. We were so thankful that this was a much more successful experience. We did an hour trail ride and our guide put our 8 year old at ease as he was a little scared at first. She was very knowledgeable about the area and answered all of his questions.
Toccoa Riverside Restaurant
This little trip was not very budget friendly, but the boys loved it and it created some great memories. Next year, I will not forget the packed bathing suits at the house since the resort has a heated pool. The boys did take advantage of the little arcade at the lodge instead of swimming. This restaurant we ate at on the way back in Blue Ridge (it is a little off the beaten path) was very good! The location is really pretty by the river. I was glad to have packed my thrifted shacket because it was a chilly 50 with no sun. Ever noticed that it can be 50 and feel warm or it can be 50 and feel cold depending on how windy, wet or sunny it is?

What a fun get away especially when they have decorated. Sometimes it’s worth the extra expense.

yes, and it is just around 2 hours from our house so not too far at all.

What a beautiful place! I’m sure your boys will remember it for a long, long time. And, yes! It was 50 here, but I was so cold. It was really damp and windy so I think that had a lot to do with it.

It does make a difference, so weird as today’s 50 feels warm.

It’s been decades since I’ve done a horse ride. It’s amazing to do so!
