What to Style with Pink Shoes?

When I asked for blog ideas for February, one of my most loyal followers on Instagram asked me to share ideas of what to style with pink shoes or how to blend pinks. I loved the ideas as I have 3 pairs of pink shoes in my closet and I love to wear them year round. The following ideas can be shopped from your closet as I am sharing some general ideas on how to blend pinks. First of all, I want to remind you that while you can can match pinks, you can create some fun color contrasts as well as pair pinks with prints and neutrals. Everyone can wear pink shoes! If you are wearing pink on your top half, I suggest figuring out which pinks you like against your skin tones: I love blush pinks (but not all) and bright fuschias near my face.

Mesh Pink Shoes with matching Pink

Remember that these are general ideas that you can shop in your closet: do you have a similar pink top or bottom in your closet as your shoes? Pair it on top!  Can you believe I wore both of these outfits this winter! While we have some cold days, we also have some very mild days in Georgia!

Use the Color Wheel

When in doubt with what to contrast or pair with a color, head to the internet and look at color wheels and complimentary combinations. There are certain colors that pair together: What you want to do is look at the opposite side of the color wheel and then look at the color combinations that might be suggested. Pink with olive or bright green is very fun, pink and yellow is great in the summer!

Blending Pinks

If you want to wear pink in your outfit, the pinks do not have to match: here, I wore my pink combat boots, a sweatshirt that is more mauve than pink, and a beanie in light pink, but none of them match: it still works! It helps that the pink is broken up by the pants/bottom layer.

Pink with Neutrals and Neutral Prints or with Bright Pink as an Accent

Here are some neutrals to pair with your pink shoes or pink accents:

  • black, navy, tan, white, grey
  • animal prints: leopard, snakeskin, zebra
  • denim
  • stripes

I used a contrasting bright pink in my accessories (ie: earrings, pink in scarf) so I am not matching the pinks, but they compliment each other. I think the easiest way to wear pink shoes is to consider your shoes your pop of color or contrasting color.

Try out some combinations in your closet to see which ones you like best. I love grey and pink (whether bright or pale pink), of course everything contrasts beautifully with white or black. Pairing your pink shoes or top with an animal print is fun!

If your shoes are more athletic…

Try pairing them with

  • wide leg lounge pants
  • leggings
  • a contrasting pair of pants
  • denim

You can use any of the ideas above for your top half.
