Our Christmas Decor
Let me preface by saying that our Christmas is not really anything fancy and extraordinary. I would describe it as minimal and homey. Most of it has been accumulated over the past few years and I usually add one or those things each year. Last Friday I shared my Nativity scenes so they will not be included in this post. I did decide that I would like to start collecting the pieces of the Willow Tree nativity over the next few years so I am hoping to see if it goes on sale after Christmas to buy my first pieces.
The front door decor is simple and understated: a silver wreath I found last year at Marshalls for less than $25 and two lanterns filled with Christmas ornaments. I have found that less is more: I do not get tired of my decor when it is not screaming at me: look at me!
I had a hard time with lighting for this picture of my fireplace and mantle but I love my metal reindeer and needed to share them. A couple of years ago, we were over at my sister in law during Christmas break and she had just bought these at Kroger. Yes, Kroger! I loved them so much that I had her watch the baby for me while I ran to Kroger to get some. My youngest thinks they are dogs and loves to play with them. I think that they had a little air of festivity to the fireplace. You will notice that most of my decorations are not santas and elves but more wintery in style: I usually keep them up till mid January especially that we celebrate Christmas/Nativity on January 7th.
This little display is behind our couch on our console table and while the santon nativity is from France the rest of the decor is from Target and Kroger (the truck and tree).
This is the console in our dining room. We bought it at a shop in town and is made from the old floors of the town’s courthouse. This display again is simple: dollar tree ornaments and some few more decorations.
This is what I added to my decor this year: I have been wanting a tiered tray for a while and went searching at Hobby Lobby. They had a variety of choices both metal and wood ones and I was at first attracted to the larger ones. Then I realized that the larger the tray the more I would need to style it so I choose this one. It has only two tiers, goes with our furnishings with the wood trays and metal accents and it does not take much to fill it. This year there are just a few items on display but I will add more next year. I will be using the tray for different seasons.
I displayed my two homemade signs on our porch and I just realized I should have swept and arranged the pillows! Real life, ladies, real life!
We have an artificial tree that we bought a couple years ago after Christmas on clearance. I love the ease of setting it up and the savings by not buying a real tree every year. Most of our ornaments are either gifts (the glass ones) or homemade. They have many memories associated with them and while not a magazine cover tree, the tree looks beautiful!
Next week, I will share some of our Christmas traditions!
A bientôt!

Your decor is so beautiful! I especially love your wreath. And how great that all of your ornaments have meaning. That’s a dream of mine – to accumulate enough ornaments to decorate our tree this way.

Most of ours have been gifts or the children made them. I am going to start sending some to my friends in France each year too!

Such cute decorations! Those reindeer do look so pretty and festive, I can see why you wanted to get them! The tiered tray looks beautiful and I think a perfect size. I hope to make it to Hobby Lobby during winter break because I’ve been wanting to get one too! Wish we had a store in town!

I add a little each week for a couple of weeks so as not to go overboard and see what I really like.

Yes, I like to have things out but I also don’t want too much clutter and I do not want to spend too much money on it. Because I’d rather go on vacation, lol!
