January Outfits
This month of January, I have made an effort to shop my closet and refrain from spending so each of the pieces have been worn in some manner in the past. I did try to create new looks with them which gives me the illusion of having a new wardrobe!
Loving this “leather” jacket from my sister in law. My wedge sneakers were worth every penny.
An outfit from all kinds of sources: Walmart sneakers, thrifted sweatshirt, Nordstrom jeans and scarf. I am not a shopping snob.
This was a new combo for me! I really like it!
Both the blouse and the olive jacket are a little large. But since I love both, I am working on figuring out how to make them work. I did realize today that the jacket has a waist that can be cinched from the inside and will see if that helps. I often try to knot the mustard blouse. I got it in size L which is really 2 sizes too big. Both items are several years old but I am not ready to part with them.
My favorite skirt that I am making work year round!
Another pretty church day look!
Why don’t I wear this coat more often? This 5 year old coat is here to stay!
It was a cold Saturday so I needed some layers. Another jacket that I need to wear more often. Less things mean I wear what I have more!
Bring out those unworn pieces! This WHBM cardigan does not get enough wear either! I love the pop of color from my mustard scarf.
Casual looks… These are not my favorites but they were comfortable and fun!
This tee will be great year round and it didn’t cost me a penny! Lovely hand me down!
Changing accessories can make an old favorite a new favorite!
I got inspired by A Fireman’s Wife to pair my black dress with my leopard scarf. I added a beanie for warmth.
Neither of these looks are my favorites. Like the bottom parts but not so much the tops. Each year I wonder if I should get rid of my white puffer vest: it is the thicker version that is very puffy and just adds bulk. The other outfit just leaves me kind of blah.
Now this one, I love! One of my favorite pairs of shoes, fun earrings, great jacket… Wore this to meet a girlfriend at a mall. Can’t remember last time I was at the mall!
Another winning outfit in my book! I love how old pieces can be timeless and come together! I have worn this poncho more this season than I ever had in the years I have had it.
Ha ha! I actually look scared in this picture but it is probably the “I am cold, take this picture quickly and make sure my eyes are open” look! I love this outfit which was inspired by Claire from I do declaire look. I had never worn this oversized sweater with leggings and its a win!
Shop shop shop my closet. This Target sweater cardigan is 3-4 years old and so soft and cozy with the inside being sherpa. I love the lapels of it and the little trim details. For the 3-4 outfits that left me blah this month, I have a lot of outfits that I really like and would wear again.
Flyaway hair! I actually wore a topper with this cute dress on Sunday but wanted to leave it off since it will be part of a full blog post next Monday. I have been wearing my dresses this month with leggings. Falling in love with the different dresses I haven’t worn much in years because of nursing or other reasons. This is another 4-5 year old dress that is a nice warm thickness. I love the colors and patterns in it. This picture was taken when it was 32 degrees… Cold!!
Shopping less or not and really thinking about what I do want is really helping me be creative with what I do have. As you saw in my Friday post, having a large closet does not mean that I have to fill it up. Having too much can be a hindrance to getting dressed. Not being able to find what you want in your closet, having it disorganized can be frustrating. Pulling out clothes that make you feel blah instead of happy is just not useful. If you haven’t yet, go to your closet and make some decisions about organizing it and weeding out the blah for the gems you do have!
A bientôt!

The more organized it is the more I love my clothes!

You certainly have created some lovely outfits. I know I am guilty of sometimes forgetting what I already have and not playing with the things in my closet. You can surprise yourself with how good they look. I agree with Nancy the yellow skirt is gorgeous .

Thanks, Jill! I need more fun skirts like that which is a goal for this year: be on the lookout for skirts that make a statement and that I will wear!
Lise
I totally agree about getting more creative with less clothes in the closet. I love most your outfits here, particularly your favourite skirt (the colors!) and yes why don’t you wear the red coat more often – such a stylish classic. I like the white puffer jacket btw. Lise

I tried the puffer vest today with something else, and I do like it better when zipped. So it won’t go yet… Yes, that skirt!! Going to keep an eye out for Modcloth sales… They have some pretty neat skirts!

So many great looks! I think the olive jacket looks fantastic even if it’s a little too big. I have this issue with several of my clothes because I’m petite, and I fold them up just a bit and it helps. It’s usually possible with those types of jackets.
I’m loving your striped sweater outfit with mustard vest, even though it’s not your favorite, it’s such a great casual look! The gray cardigan with bells sleeves is so pretty too!
Hope you’re having a good week!

I just bought some cute tile bracelets on Amazon so I had about 29 days that I did not shop and then bought two things totaling about $90. Jacket while on sale still not super cheap. I have one item I want in February and since it is not going to be on sale either I hope for it to be the only thing I will buy in February. Trying to plan out my purchases and making sure I really want them by not impulse buying them. Let me know how your February goes =)

My favourites are the red coat and the yellow skirt. Also, I’m impressed with your choice of earrings, such a variety 🙂 you have a pair for any look it seems
mimifce
I do have a dozen of the leather earrings and then a few other different pairs. An easy way to change up an outfit.

My favorites are the red coat and pink puffer vest. I think it’s because it’s winter-time so I’m attracted to color! The red coat really does look pretty on you.

Thank you, Kim! I am definitely figuring out what I like and don’t like this winter!

Thanks, Shelbee! I take that as a great compliment since I think you have the coolest style! The camo wedges were an investment for me but I have been wearing them about twice a week and they make my outfits so much more fun. I love them!
