Fun Summer Yard Games
I added a few things to our outdoor games and activities this year. While we do not tend to spend large amounts of time outdoors in our yard in the summer (think bugs and humidity) we do enjoy the occasional game and fun in the shade! I made a stop at Walmart at the beginning of summer and we stopped at Five and Below one day and from there came our favorite activities this summer.
Badminton Set
I think I have shared it in a Friday Favorites post but this badminton set has been gold for us. It came in really handy on the 4th of July and the kids with their cousins spent a couple hours playing badminton then volleyball. I now want to pick up a volleyball, the ones the cousins brought was nice and lightweight!
River Tubes
While we still haven’t gone down the river this year and we probably would use our rafts and Intex tubes, these river tubes are so nice at $4.94 a piece: much thicker than the cheap tubes we usually buy for the pool and I am sure they will also last longer. The boys took them to the pool with their cousin and spent 1 and half hour having a competition jumping into the tubes, first with one then gradually stacking them until they tried jumping the stack of 4. It was pretty impressive!
Disc Golf Set
My 10 year old loves playing disc golf in PE and when he came accross this set at Five and Below, he knew he wanted to buy it. The set is $5 and has been used quite a few times since he bought it.
There you have it, some fun things we have enjoyed this summer so far! We have another month of summer break with tennis camp for 3 of the boys for some of those weeks, another week of art camp and a trip this weekend. Hard to think that we will have to go back to school. There have been some good things happening with the kids this summer that I am hoping we can continue into the school year.
A bientôt!

Yes, and they are really good quality! We have really nice Intex ones with a back and bottom but these are pretty cool too.

Oh I love the badminton set! 🙂 these look like really fun things to play with! We tend to add a couple outdoor toys each summer too, but nothing beats the trampoline, haha! 🙂
Hope you are having a good weekend 🙂 It’s another chilly winter day here!

They haven’t been on the trampoline this summer much.

The disk gold will be nice when it gets cooler too.
Shelbee on the Edge
I love these game ideas for outdoor summer play, Mireille! My kids have been enjoying swimming in my neighbor’s pool and they love jumping into the tubes as well! It is quite impressive how they seem to land it perfectly every time. If I attemtped such things…Yeah, let’s not even picture that!
