    Foggy Mornings

I’ve shared before how important it is for my mental well being to take the time to enjoy the little things that bring me peace and a feeling of joy. Life in the last week hasn’t been easy in our household: having elderly parents is not for the weak! One of the top things that brings me joy is the beauty of God’s creation. Morning drives to the middle school can offer some beautiful views. Last week, we had a couple foggy mornings that gave the landscape a cool vibe. Going over the bridge always offers a pretty view: seeing the steam/fog rise from the river is cool, isn’t it?…

    Winter Black and White Outfit

I usually wear either an all white or an all black monochromatic look, but I do not typically pair the two colors together. When I thrifted this fun vest for a couple of dollars, I was both attracted by the polka dot pattern and the weight of it. It is also not too puffy. I have found vests to be practical especially if I am walking outside because I do not overheat in them. Today’s look is an ode to snow: my decorative sleigh is my call to snow this year. Georgia has not had a real snow in 6 years and we are ready! The black hoodie henley is…

7 Day Skirt Challenge with Is This Mutton

I love participating in Gail’s (Is This Mutton) fall skirt challenge because it gets me out of my denim fall-back in autumn. I love the idea of wearing all my clothes more, so this challenge is a great opportunity to try some new combos using what I have in my closet. Everything is old apart from the tulle skirt which I purchased early November. What can I say? I absolutely love this skirt: I featured it in this blog post for an early fall look while at the beach and I plan to wear it for Christmas in an edgy look. I want another tulle skirt now! I’ve had this…

Fun Times on 30A and Destin

While I enjoy spending time on the beach itself, part of the charm of staying on 30A on the Florida Gulf coast is the opportunity to visit the little towns along the county highway. The shops are definitely overpriced (as is the food and everything else) but it is really picturesque and fun to look around. I always budget in an ice cream outing for us and a couple souvenirs. This time, we also had lunch at a little spot in Seaside. The crepes from this little food truck were a great treat, but it was very busy and the wait was about 30 minutes. Thankfully, the kiddos and their…

    Waterfall Tulle Skirt: How Fun!

Do you remember my recent post where I featured a mustard skirt from Cato’s fashion? When I told my mom in law, I had come across a fun tulle skirt there, full price but affordable, she convinced me to return and try it on and buy it if it I liked how it looked. As you can tell by today’s blog post, it was a winner. I love the skirt and while I bought it thinking about the coming up holidays especially Christmas, I knew that the bright red would make it perfect year round. As soon as I brought it home, I went on Pinterest for some inspiration on…

    Burgundy and Camo: Fall Combo

Which colors come to mind when you think of fall colors? Rich hues come to my mind as well as darker colors such as olive or brown. There are some color combinations that I really enjoy and when I planned my outfits for our trip to the beach, I chose olive, burgundy and tan as my main colors. I thought they would be perfect for the season and a little different from what I packed last year. I shopped my closet for this look and I sure love it! These camo pants have been a favorite for fall for the past couple of years: the fit is on point and…

    Sunsets at the Beach 2023

We had some magnificient sunsets on the beach this year! Of course, there were a couple cloudy nights and no wondrous sight, but the last sunset sure made up for it. I realized that I had not written this post as I was finishing my last Thanksgiving beach trip post for next Thursday: it would have been strange to publish this with one sentence and no pictures! We were greeted with a beautiful sunset when we arrived at the beach the first day. We even had time to drop off our luggage in the condo before walking down to the water. My oldest took this beautiful shot of his dad…

Christmas Look: All the Textures for the Sunday Showcase

I am excited to wear some fun holiday looks this month: I think I might do a week of Hallmark movie inspired looks on IG. It’s just fun to pull out all the velvet, the tulle and pretty colors. I have my eye on a couple pieces with sequins at TJmaxx if they still have them when I stop by the store. Today’s look started with this fun sweater I bought at Cato’s fashion last year on the clearance rack. The fun texture, the silver color, the bow caught my eye and while I didn’t wear it last year, I plan to wear it Christmas eve this year and maybe…

    Watercolor on 30A, Florida

30A is a county road in South Walton County, between Destin and Panama City Beach. It is known for some of its upscale towns like Seaside, Alys Beach and Rosemary Beach. We have been staying at the Adagio condos for the past 4 years in Blue Mountain which is about 5 miles from Watercolor and Seaside. We always enjoy biking there if we rent bikes. On this particular day, we had not rented bikes yet so we drove there. We’ve always like the park in Watercolor with its waterway and fountains. Watercolor also has a pretty blue fountain that appears on my beach outfit post where I take a picture…

Soaking in Sunrises on the Beach

I had two goals for myself on this Thanksgiving trip to the beach: soak in as many sunrises as I could and make sure to move more. I was very grateful to fulfill both goals. The first 3 mornings were the best for admiring the sunrises as the cloud coverage was perfect. One morning, I couldn’t see anything while I slept in on another morning. I couldn’t believe I slept more than 10 hours that night! One way to exercise on the beach is to take a walk: I definitely do not run on the beach, it is difficult enough for me to walk on the sand, so running is…
