    Cades Cove: Great Smoky Mountains

I think this was my favorite nature outing of our spring break. It mixed history, views and wildlife and I plan to come back next trip since you never know what animals you may encounter. Cades Cove is a 11 mile one way loop in the Smoky Mountains near the entrance in Townsend, TN. There are historic buildings you can visit, many side stops where you can pause your car and take pictures of the scenery and depending on which part of the day you visit more or less wildlife to observe. We went on a rainy and windy afternoon since I knew we would spend most of our time…

    Laurel Falls: Great Smoky Mountains

Laurel Falls is an 80 ft tall waterfall and is divided in an upper and lower section separated by a walkway. The Laurel Branch falls trail is paved and 2.6 miles long roundtrip. It was an easy trail for us to walk (children ages 4 to 15) and there were several rock formations on the side that the boys enjoyed climbing. I didn’t let the boys climb this particular one as the other side was a very steep drop but there were quite a few they enjoyed. I do recommend bringing snacks and water especially if hiking with kids as that does keep them happier! I made the mistake of…

    Hiking Outfit: Stylish and Comfortable

We have been taking what I call a hiking or nature vacation once a year for the past few years typically during spring break and this year we headed to a cabin near Townsend, TN which is minutes away from the Great Smoky Mountains. I will be sharing several posts about our hikes and adventures but today, I wanted to share one of my hiking outfits. I will be sharing a recap of all of my outfits in a couple of weeks but today, I am sharing my formula for a stylish but comfortable hiking outfit. I was pretty pleased with what I packed (practice makes perfect) and I packed…

Styling a Denim Jacket for the April Sunday Showcase

Welcome to the Sunday Showcase where I join Ada from Elegance and Mommyhood the first Sunday of the month to feature a theme and share some style inpiration with you. Feels like it was just recently that I posted about denim jackets sharing lots of outfit ideas with you. Today, I am showing yet another way to wear your denim jacket (I really could have chosen any of mine) by pairing it with a shorter dress and cowboys boots. Wearing your western boots does not mean that you will look like a cowgirl even if you pair it with a denim jacket which makes both pieces versatile. Don’t forget to…

    A Picnic and a Hike

I am sharing some pretty pictures from last week today but I wanted to share how the back story is not as idyllic as the pictures. I really try to be out and about several times a week to enjoy the outdoors but sometimes the pictures are more beautiful than the reality or its aftermath. A Picnic I decided to take my youngest to the “duck pond” for a picnic thinking it would be fun and it was. We enjoyed lunch by the water, walked around the pond, too some pictures and looked at the ducks, geese and turtles. What I didn’t think of was the pollen associated with those…

Inspired by Jess: Preloved from Head to Toe

A few weeks ago, I took a pictures of one of Jess’ outfits (Elegantly Dressed and Stylish) because I thought it would be a perfect outfit for me to replicate one spring day. What I didn’t realize was that each similar item that I had was actually thrifted or a hand me down. How cool is that! I even took pictures in my neighborhood next to a flowering tree which is reminiscent of where she took her pictures. This is not the first time I have replicated one of Jess’ outfits (see here). I already have an idea for next month Inpired by post and it is also one inspired…

Outfit Inspiration: Fun Pants and Joggers for the Win

These outfits compile weeks 3 and 4 of my no shopping weeks. I am surprised at how much I am enjoying and following my weekly prompts. I think the key for me is that the themes are very broad and that I am following them for only 5 days of the week. I think I will add one more weekly theme for next week and will wear create outfits around my kimonos. The first week of April is spring break so I will shop my closet for those outfits which will consist of a lot of hiking outfits (usually joggers/leggings and maybe a pair of jeans). That will most likely…

    Signs of Spring

It feels like it has been a while since I wrote a non fashion post. I have kind of missed it but we have really traveled or gone on any special outings. Weekends have been busy or relaxed depending on our mood but one thing we have done is enjoying the sunshine when the sun is out. A couple of weeks ago, the youngest and I had a picnic by the river and I took these pictures. Most days we just eat on our porch or go outside in the afternoon to enjoy the mild weather but sometimes it is nice to have some pretty scenery to enjoy. I don’t…

Caite and Kyla Embroidered Shirt 4 Ways

I bought a thrifted shirt some years ago that I loved wearing and even brought to France on our trip in 2019. When I came across this cute Caite and Kyla top on Poshmark at the beginning of February, I added it to my closet. It reminds me of that other top. As per usual, I wanted to wear it different ways to show its versatility so today I am sharing 4 ways it can be worn. I have a few other ideas in mind which include pairing with shorts and over a dress too with a belt! With a Black Pencil Skirt Front tucked in with a black strechy…

Sweatshirts with Ageless Style Link Up

I had several ideas in mind for this post as I have a number of sweatshirts but ended up with a spur of the moment photoshoot last week on the day of my haircut. The trees are rapidly blooming and losing their blooms so I thought this bright yellow sweatshirt would be very appropriate for a bright sunny day and taking pictures near this tree would be perfect for spring. My favorite sweatshirts are lightweight and in cheery colors. I dream of wearing sweatshirts with shorts but typically once shorts season is here sweatshirts are out of the question because it is too hot for them. Since I am not…
