November Sunday Showcase: A Thanksgiving Outfit Option
I am glad to share the spotlight once again with Ada (Elegance and Mommyhood) who is back to blogging after a couple of months break. Today we are sharing some Thanksgiving outfit ideas. I will be sharing another holiday look next week which could work throughout fall and winter. Living in the South, a fall outfit may or may not work for Thanksgiving. It may be chilly or it may decide to be 75 degrees. We have been spending Thanksgiving in Florida for the past few years, so I usually do not wear one of these options as they are typically too warm but I love the inspiration that can…

Promoting Friendships for Your Children
Lately, the social and spiritual health of my children has been weighing on me. As parents, we guide our children as they grow from needing us for everything as babies, then growing into young children who need guidance and support and then into teenagers and young adults who crave independence but still need that guidance and support but maybe in a less obvious way. I have made many mistakes over the years, starting by being an impatient mom, giving too much independence, not enough, and expecting my kids to do certain things on their own but not realizing that they still need some scaffolding from me to become their own…

Evening Walk: Cotton and Sunset
I finally managed to take a walk before the sunset by the cotton fields. The fields finally bloomed (much later this year) and I pass them everyday wanting to capture some of the beauty. The fields look really cool when it is foggy, at sunset and early morning. It really looks like snow from afar. I am grateful everyday for where we live and how we get a touch of country life as we drive to school. I saw one of my friends walking ahead with her puppy (not so little doberman) and her neighbor so I jogged and joined them on their walk. It was fun to see how…

What to Wear to the Pumpkin Patch: Dress with Combat Boots
Just as my post about What to Wear to a Winery mentioned, you really can wear whatever you would like to the pumpkin patch. A dress, jeans, shorts… Now when you blog, you might wear something a little unexpected like a dress with combat boots. Probably not my best idea as these were cream colored and it had rained a few days prior to our visit. Thankfully, I did bring along another pair of shoes to change into after a few pics as I probably would have ruined them. You can see some of the activities we enjoyed in my post (here). I chose one of my summer dress whose…

October Favorite Looks
Every month, I try some new combination while mostly shopping my closet but also with some new additions. this past month, I stopped by Old Navy for the first time in several months and picked up a few things and also added a pair of plaid pants from Target. Some outfits don’t photograph as well as others even though I might have really like them so the ones I share on the blog are usually my top favorites while I share looks 5 times a week on Instagram. I called this my Old Navy outfit as the pants and top are both from there. The top is several years old…

Another Sunday, Another hike
As I have mentioned before on the blog, we have several really pretty places to hike in a 15 minute radius from our house. These trails are really handy if we want to hike on a Sunday afternoon since we have less time to drive somewhere after church and before dinner. I have shared this particular hike before here but found some different pretty little nature treasure to share this go around. The hike starts near this old furnace and is just a little over 1 mile long one way. You can hike through the woods or take a shorter road up. I like this hike because it borders a…

Friday Favorites
I almost didn’t post today but then I decided to share things that made me happy this month. They were not purchases even though those were fun but they were moments and time spent doing things that I love! Outdoors Fire with the Family We’ve been making fires on Sunday nights as hubby is usually finishing work on Friday and we are at church part of Saturday evening. We love this time hanging out by the fire, eating treats, playing games (sometimes) and just hanging out. This past one was even nicer has the weather has cooled off in the evenings. Running Ran my 2nd 5K in 2 months and…

Inspired by Rena: Olive and Stripes
This is my 2nd inspired by post in a month! Why do I enjoy writing these posts? First of all, they allow me to share bloggers that inspire me and that I have enjoyed following for the past few years and second, they inspire me to not shop but to shop my closet to recreate an outift. I always make notes (sometimes written most typically with a picture) of an outfit I might want to recreate with things I already possess in my closet. While it is fun to buy something new (as my plaid pants in Friday’s post), there is something really satisfying about digging through your closet to…
