Grandfather Mountain, NC
The week after Christmas we took a short vacation in North Carolina and per usual planned some outdoor adventures. First on the agenda was snow tubing which was really fun despite the warm winter and it not being natural snow. Next was a hike at Linville Gorge (see post here). On our 2nd day we visited Grandfather Mountain. All of these places were chosen from my internet search for things to do near Morganton, NC where we had booked our hotel. The day was windy and a little windy but not especially too cold. After being unprepared for one hike in the fall. I now keep extra windbreakers and hats…

Winter Whites, Winter Lights: January Sunday Showcase
It always is a little frustrating when you have an outfit in mind for a post and when you try it on, it really doesn’t look like you expected. This is what happened for this post. I have different white pants that I have worn in winter but was trying to create an outfit in the cream family so I thought my cream camo pants would be fun. However, when I tried on my outfit, the proportions just didn’t work. The cream combat boots looked weird, the sweater was too long, it just didn’t look very cute. I was also in a little time crunch for pictures as we…

Disc Golf and Planning Birthday Parties
December and January are hard months on the wallet in our family. After Nativity (Christmas) come two birthdays, 10 days apart. On the 3rd day of our vacation, our planned activity inspired me for birthday party themes for my soon to be 8 and 11 year olds. While in Morganton, NC, we came across a great park by the river with a fun and large playground as well as a full size disc golf park. We came across a wonderful park near the river with a great playground as well as a 18 hole disc golf park. My soon to be 11 year old loves disc golf which he learned…

Linville Gorge and Falls, NC
We took a short vacation after Christmas in search of snow. Well, snow we did not find however we did enjoy a half day of snow tube in North Carolina on some fake snow! We booked our couple hours of fun at Jonas Ridge Snow tubing and had a ball. Since it was a warm week, I knew it would be pleasant to hike to I looked up a few places near where we were staying (Morganton, NC) so we could enjoy the outdoors. It was fairly busy everywhere we went as others had the same idea but we were still able to enjoy our surroundings and fresh air. Linville…

Staying Warm with a Blanket Scarf
Since the Sunday Showcase link up is postponed till next Sunday, I decided to go ahead and my regular post on Sunday instead of Monday for those who might be looking for the link up and might be wondering. This is kind of weird to post this outfit as it is unseasonably warm this weekend with spring like weather in the upper 70s. I wasn’t planning to take pictures when we went to the Georgia Aquarium a couple of weeks ago but when we arrived and saw all of the pretty ornaments in the green in front of the aquarium and the Coca Cola building, I couldn’t pass up the…

Favorite Fall OOTD: Dresses and Skirts (Part 2)
I have to make more of a conscious effort to wear skirts and dresses in the cooler months but I usually wear them at least twice a week for church so I have enjoyed coming up with some layers to make all of mine weather appropriate. Fall and spring is when I wear my denim jackets the most. I really had fun making this light short sleeve camo dress appropriate for cooler weather. Since it looks like a tunic here, I am sharing it today. These are real leather boots and I can tell the difference between it and my Target boots and how those wear it or get marks…

Favorite Fall OOTD: November and December (part 1)
As I write this post and it is only mid December, I am thinking this might be a two part post. I love the change of season as it feels like my wardrobe is new, I have forgotten about some of my clothes and with it being a cooler season, there is an opportunity to wear different accessories such as hats, boots and scarves. Most of fall was dedicated to shopping from my closet and not buying any new clothes so I made sure to plan what I was going to wear because it helps me realize the variety I already possess in my closet. Today I will concentrate on…

Christmas Tour 2021
Ada (Elegance and Mommyhood) asked me to join her with her Thursday Moda Link Up Christmas Tour special edition! Make sure to visit her blog and see how beautiful her decor is! My decor in comparison is probably very simple since I went a little minimal this year, getting rid of some things that were not my style anymore and just adding a few things. She has some very whimsical ornaments and beautiful trees for different rooms. While the boys do have trees in their room and little villages, today, I am sharing the main living areas as well as our Nativity scenes which I collect. We’ve been putting up…

ZooAtlanta: Illuminights
For something a little different this year, we decided to go visit the special Chinese Lantern Festival at ZooAtlanta. There were around 80 lanterns of various sizes depicting animals and flowers. I wasn’t sure what to expect as sometimes pictures can make an event look better than it actually is, but this was worth our time and money! We loved it and really enjoyed all of the different lanterns as you will see with the number of pictures I am sharing. The festival runs through January 16, so if you are in the Atlanta area, there is still time to visit! Because we visited on a Sunday evening (before the…

Holiday Date Night
I have been wanting to style this cute little suede skirt for a post for a while and today is the day! I plan to take this on our winter trip to North Carolina next week (we are going to hopefully have some snow fun!) and have a date night with the hubby. The skirt would have been better in size medium but I bought it on sale and not all size were on sale at the time so size small was it. I have a couple of other ideas to style this, one of which is casual with sneakers and a graphic tee and another with booties but for…
