A Visit to the Georgia Aquarium
The week before the boys went back to school, we decided to have a couple of day adventures so the day following our trip to the Atlanta Zoo, we went to the Georgia Aquarium. It had been several years since our last visit so we were excited to go back. Admission is $36.95 for ages 3 and up but it does include the different shows and 4D theater. I originally just bought our tickets (with timed entry) but while we were there I decided to go ahead and get the family year membership since I figured I could take my brother and family as well as at least go a…

Inspired by the Grey Brunette: Blue Jeans and Orange
I often take a picture of my computer screen when I read a blog post and see an outfit that I can recreate from my closet. The latest one was this outfit from Suzy. Suzy (The Grey Brunette) has been inspired me not only by her outfits lately but also with her photography. She bought a new camera, a remote and tripod and has been learning how to use it and be creative by taking courses and practicing. Suzy lives in Portugal and has a beautiful backyard and surrounding where she takes most of her pictures. She also has been having fun editing her pictures sometimes creating some really artful…

My Love for Sunflowers
My love from sunflowers comes from growing up in the south of France and the occasional trips to the Provence region where sunflower fields and lavender fields greet you! Of course there are fields in other parts of the south of France (we lived in the Languedoc Roussillon) and we would come accross fields there too. I remember going to camp in the summer and going into the fields and eating the seeds right off of a sunflower. For the past two years, I have planted sunflowers in front of our house in our little 2 ft by 8 ft raised bed as well as in the one in front…

Zoo Atlanta: the Elephants
We ended our summer with a bang: the last week before school started I took the boys to both Zoo Atlanta and the Georgia aquarium. We have been to both before but it had been probably 2 to 3 years since we had been to the zoo and longer for the aquarium. We did not pack our lunch this time, only snacks and waters but I did buy the membership since it was only 15 dollars more than the price of admission for the 5 of us. The main thing that has been added in the past few years in the African Savanna area where the elephants have a bigger…

Olive for Summer with the August Sunday Showcase Link Up
When Ada sugested this theme, she mentioned olive for summer, olive street style and I had an idea in mind using the same black bodysuit but with an olive vest and white capri but just looking at it on the hanger made me think of fall. So I decided that I will revisit that idea for post in a month or so and came up with this combination. I have a number of olive pieces in my closet including some shorts but these newish Amazon joggers (a prime day purchase) begged for a day view. I love my joggers (I now have 3 favorite pairs made of a recycled polyester…

Back to School Thoughts
As the summer break ends and we start counting down the days till school starts (for us that is on the 11th), I wanted to reflect about this summer as well as look ahead. This summer has been a little different than the past couple of years where we traveled a lot including some trips to Europe and while I did miss the big trips, I really did enjoy this more quiet summer. We still managed a few long weekend vacations (Tybee Island and Arizona) and we will end the summer with an overnight weekend sans kids! Summer Highlights My brother’s wedding and our trip to Arizona weekend in Tybee…

Odysea Aquarium, Scottsdale, AZ
Well, this is the second time if not the third I am writing this post! My internet went out the first go around and I hadn’t save anything past the first picture and then I am not sure what has happened to my post when I finished writing it. Did I not save it at all? Who knows? Anyhow, when we were in Scottsdale, we decided to visit the Odysea Aquarium since it was an indoor activities and our family love animals! The globe tank below is one of several that welcomes you at the entrance of aquarium. I was prepared to be wowed since the price was pretty steep…

Skirts for a Week: Shopping my Closet
Last month, at the beginning of July, I decided to wear skirts that had been forsaken in the depths of my closet. Well, maybe they had not been forsaken, but I hadn’t really worn skirts much of June and July, focusing instead on dresses and shorts. I concentrated on wearing my favorite skirts and realized that just as dresses, they are really comfortable in the summer. This skirt was actually a new buy from a store called Gabe’s which I did not realized was in our little town until my sister in law pointed it out when visiting. It is similar to Ross and TJ Maxx and while I only…

White Sundress, 5 Ways
I am enjoying this series this summer and I am sharing yet again a dress, this time, my Target sundress which I cannot find online anymore. As I am trying to rein in my spending these last 2 months of summer, I am working on creating different outfits with some of my favorite pieces. With a graphic tee and white sneakers This look was shared on the 4th for Ada and I’s Sunday Showcase and I also wore it on the actual 4th for church. I love how comfortable and summery this outfit is! With leopard tee and brown sandals This is a very similar outfit as above. Since I…

McDowell Sonoran Preserve Gateway Trail
While on a walk in the condo’s neighborhood, a lady who saw me taking pictures of the cacti suggested going to the nearby Gateway Trail. We would then get a taste of the desert without seeing all the neighborhood houses and without having to go on a long drive since it was only 5 minutes away. When we arrived at the the McDowell Sonoran Preserve Gateway Trail, we saw right away that we would enjoy this walk despite our late start. I didn’t realize how close the hills were from the neighborhood. I really wished we had left earlier though as the sun was already high in the sky! We…
