An Afternoon in Dahlonega, GA
The week before school started, I decided it would be fun to have an afternoon outing away from the house. We have visited Dahlonega at least once a year, but always enjoy returning. There are different restaurant options, antique shops to visit and it is less than a 2 hour drive from home. This afternoon, we were on a bit of a time constraint and I will have to remember to not plan that way next time. I think we would have enjoyed spending a little more time there. This time we decided to visit the Gold Museum which is housed in the building behind me. I wore a thrifted…

2 More Ways to Wear a Sari Skirt
While I did buy some new clothes this summer, it also has been my goal to wear as much as I can in my closet. I have been wearing more skirts and dresses in the past few weeks, and I decided it was time to wear my sari skirt. I have shared 5 ways to wear it in this post and wore it with a denim jacket last fall here and one more way here. Now, I do not remember all of the ways to style it, but have a cheat sheet with instructions. Skirt with a Sash This was an easy way to wear my skirt: tie the wrap…

Summer Fun Color Combo
One of my IG followers who I communicate almost on the daily (she always has positive feedback and send me fun links/accounts) shared a post from the @thehouseof.social who had some mood boards featuring some fun color combos to try with clothes. I thought it would be a perfect way to have fun getting dressed one week at the end of June and I shopped my closet for my outfits. It was a fun, easy exercise and I love how these outfits turned out. Red, Light Blue and Navy While I sometimes repeat outfits, I most often try to mix up my outfits and create new combinations with what is…

Old Town Scottdale
I stayed in Scottsdale a few years ago for my brother’s wedding, but we didn’t had time to do much sightseeing, and only had hiked near where we stayed. So when Jodie mentioned the possibility of spending some time in Old Town Scottsdale, I jumped at the opportunity. I was surprised at how picturesque and fun it was, and there is more to explore for another time! I am thinking that if the hubby and I make an anniversary trip there in the fall of 2026, that a couple days in Scottsdale followed by a stay in Flagstaff or somewhere within an hour’s drive would be really cool. This horse…

Midi Floral Skirt with Denim Button Down
It’s time for another Pinterest look! I have had so much fun this summer with these! I barely wore this skirt last year, but have worn it several times this spring and summer. There is a reason it is one of my oldest skirts: it never goes out of style with its classic circle shape and vibrant floral pattern. Below is my inspiration and I tell you, I am a little tempted to let my hair go natural when I see this haircut and color. My hair right now is a mixture of grey, dark blonde and some highlights/lowlights. I did forget about carrying a similar bag (we took these…

Date Night Outfit with Striped Shorts
When I wore these shorts last month (here), I thought it would be fun to style them again but in a dressy manner. Sadly, I haven’t gone on a recent date (it’s been busy around here), but I think this would be a perfect outfit to go out to dinner with my husband this month. I am going to make an effort to schedule an evening out soon. I usually associate a dressier outfit with higher heels or special shoes, a cute clutch and at least something with texture. Check, check and check! I actually wore 3 of these pieces together in another outfit last year: they really work well…

Friendship and Food
I was reflecting on friendships after my trip out to Arizona to visit Jodie and Rob. The way you make friendships changes as you grow older. As a child, you make friends at school, church and sports activities and that I think that continues till you graduate from college. Then you meet friends through work, social activities and church. For me, I still have a couple friends I am in touch with from high school (my best friend is a friend I made when I was 10-12), we have changed churches a few times in the past 15 years but I am in touch with only 2 friends a few…

Dressing Up an Athletic Skirt and Working on Proportions
Jodie suggested dressing up athleisure for our second blog post, so I packed up my athletic skirt which I hadn’t worn yet this year. It is a great skirt for travel as it can be folded up easily in a suitcase and I did wear my aubergine one on the plane to and from Costa Rica a couple years ago. In the past I have worn it with a simple tank, so I wanted to see how I could dress it up. Once again, I need to thank Rob (Jodie’s husband) for these great pictures. And please stop by Jodie’s blog to see how she dressed up her athletic skirt:…

Dress over a Dress: Tulle and Shirt Dress
Now this was a fun outfit! All summer long, I have been going through my closet making sure I wear a little bit of everything and will pull out a piece to style and wear in a new way (or old way sometimes). I bought this tulle overlay dress a year ago (and wore it three timesĀ on the blog), so I wanted to find another way to wear. Since I had worn it over a skirt (here), over jeans (here) and under a skirt (here), I wanted to try something else. I let it hang in the front of my closet for a few days, and then inspiration struck!…

Arizona Cactus: Morning Walks
I cannot help myself: each time I have visited Arizona (now 3 times in 5 years I think), I have to take pictures of cacti! I am not sure what it is about them that I find so cool and interesting. Maybe it is just the newness, the originality: when you live where there are only hardwoods and pine trees, a cactus is exotic! I enjoy my morning walks at home, but morning walks in Arizona are even more fun. Apart from all of the cool cacti, yard decorations are unique and then my favorite, bunnies and quails abound! We even saw some coyotes on our last walk! This year…
