Beauty in Nature
Welcome to my 2nd post sharing the beauty our family has found in nature in the past week or so. We returned to the same Indian Mounds and state park last week. This time I really enjoyed taking it all in and let my oldest take care of taking pictures. I am going to look at websites to help him work on his photography and allow him to use my camera. He seems to have a great eye for photo composition. First off though, I wanted to share this picture of one of the blooms from my mother in law’s jasmine honeysuckle. These usually attract hummingbirds and the blooms are…

Inspired by Vanity and Me Style
Last Monday, as I was doing my blog rounds, linking up my Monday post and visiting blogs, I stopped by Laurie’s blog, Vanity and Me Style. I have always loved Laurie’s classy style but this is the first time I have tried to replicate one of her outfits. Laurie is a 50+ lifestyle and fashion blogger from the UK and she always looks put together in her outfits. On that day, the first outfit she wore really stood out with its white monochromatic tone and because I knew I could come up with something similar from my closet. I always have loved all white outfit and this was a perfect…

April Favorites
Well, I sure haven’t been the best about curbing my shopping this month but I also was able to stay on track with saving too, so April was a good month. After the first couple weeks at the end of March adapting to our new routines, we all settled into a school, play and eat routine. State Park and Natures Top of my list of favorites has to be the weather we have had and the opportunities for outdoor walks, picnic (only one so far) and blog picture in pretty locations. If you missed Wednesday’s blog with part 1 of a 3 part series featuring the beauty in nature we…

Enjoy the little things!
We may not be able to fly anywhere right now nor plan any vacations but we can savor the little things. This is the first of 3 posts sharing some of the beauty in nature that my kids and I have encountered on our walks and adventures. One of the things that I have really enjoyed these past couple of weeks is nature and how beautiful the area I live in is. Wildflowers, grass, trees, blue skies: they make my heart sing. I am so grateful right now for the beauty in God’s creation. So today I am sharing some pictures my son and I took last week on our…

Poshmark Finds
Well, I haven’t done too well with my slowing down on my shopping lately but at least I am trying to include some small business/substainable fashion in it! This past week Meg from @pixieandcurls on Instagram was sharing some pictures of some finds she was going to post on her Poshmark account and I decided to do a little shopping. It would both help her and my closet! Here are 3 of the items I purchased (there is a pink/purple denim jacket that I gifted to a tween and a cute little yellow bucket purse that might make an Instagram appearance at some point. Fun, Fun, Fun Bando Tee This…

Afternoon adventure: Etowah Indian Mounds
This is not the first time that I share an outing to the Etowah Indian Mounds. After 6 weeks of walking around our neighborhood, I decided it was time to walk at the nearby state parks. Our neighbor told me that the mounds were open and that that while the building/museum was closed, this historical site was open to the public free of charge. We have been once or twice as a family but we usually walk at the state park because it is free apart from a minimal parking free while the Indian Mounds charges admission. So I told my boys we were going for a walk somewhere different,…

Pascha Basket 2020
Christ is Risen! Each year, the week prior to Pascha, I prepare different items to add to our Pascha Easter basket. Hop on over to last year’s post to see what our basket looked like (similar but different: I forgot which basket I had used then!). This year, the date of Pascha fell one week after western Easter. We typically add items we did not eat during lent in our baskets: meat, dairy and eggs. We do not gorge ourselves once lent is over but do enjoy these treats in moderation in the weeks following lent. Cheese Paskha I usually make cheese Paskha with a couple of my friends but…

Pascha Outfit: Modcloth skirt for the Win!
My floral Modcloth skirt is a fan favorite and also a favorite of mine. Here are the two post (here and here) where I have already featured it and I wanted to continue to show its versatility with new outtfit. I chose to wear this on Orthodox Easter (Pascha) this Sunday. I felt that is was a great way to celebrate the resurrection, with an outfit full of cheer and happiness with sunny colors and white! Of course, I had to take some pictures at my favorite bench as the spring background of new leaves makes for a pretty backdrop. This outfit is actually quite budget friendly coming to less…

You are Enough
Wednesday was a hard day. In order to avoid crowds at the grocery store, I changed my grocery day to Wednesday. I woke up with a slight headache. nothing too terrible but I know that if I don’t take anything, it will develop into a migraine. But since it wasn’t a migraine I didn’t want to take too much medicine. Because of that I ended up with that headache all day which influenced my feelings of accomplishment. It took me 2 hours including the drive to take care of the grocery shopping and gas, my 2 year old who is potty training right now had 2 accidents, it took me…

Leggings: Go2Socks vs Zella High Waisted
In the fall and winter, I have been wearing solely my Zella high waisted leggings when I want to wear leggings instead of jeans. I always wear a tunic or long sweater with them. A few months ago, Jodie from Jtouchofstyle recommended the Go2Socks compression leggings in a post (the link takes you to one of 3 posts on reviewing the leggings). With such a difference in price, I decided to go ahead and purchase a pair and put them to the test. Of course I took advantage of her discount code too! Zella High Waisted Leggings I paid full price for my pair of Zella leggings but they do…
