Target Dress and Denim Jacket for Spring

I haven’t bought anything this month in the way of clothing and it feels really good! As I mentioned in Friday’s post, I really needed a budget reset and shopping for non essential items was the first place I made cuts. It gave me the opportunity to shop my closet, wear all of my jackets and pull out some of my skirts I hadn’t worn since last year. I did purchase this dress in teal green and in black in February and have worn them both this month. I took advantage of one of Target’s 20% sales to buy them. I am learning to wait for a sale when buying at Target!

I decided to try the dress with one of my least worn pair of shoes, a grey pair from Jambu (similar). They are very comfortable but I sometimes struggle styling them. I do like them with cropped pants and I thought they looked nice with this maxi dress.

It is always fun to try some new styles. I figured I would like this dress because of the color and the waistline. The smocked detail is close enough to my natural waist to be flattering.  Pockets of course are always fun! They come in hand holding my 3 year old’s small toys in church. I have found I am a little more relaxed with him in church as long as he is quiet. If he is playing with something small and not distracting to others, I am okay with it.

I love it when I find a good match for these earrings! My mom has done very well with the last two pairs of earrings she gifted me! She knows my style and preference! My tile bracelets from Amazon are showing a little wear but for the price you sure can’t complain!

Something that qualifies as a good purchase in my book no matter the price (well, within reason) is something that is going to be worn many times or used many times. My denim jacket from Kut from the Kloth is one of those items even if I didn’t buy it on sale (which is does go on sale from time to time). I have been loving the cooler weather in Georgia because I get to wear some light layers!

I do think the dress needs a slip under even in teal and black but I do not mind. I am so looking forward to wearing dresses this spring and fall. I am actually thinking of extending my no clothing shopping through the month of April. I have never challenged myself to do it for that long but I really have some great options in my closet. The few tees I would like can wait another month!

I am putting my blog on the back seat for a couple of weeks, challenging myself to read more, devote more time to my kids and enjoying the present time so I will have only next Sunday’s Sunday showcase post before returning to my 3 posts a week on the 12th. Having spent 8 or so days stressing about changing my blog theme and encountering some hiccups (thank you, Bluehost for fixing them all!), it helped me put things in perspective. I love blogging and I love this community but I need to prioritize certain things in my day. Number one is that blogging will most of the time happen at night when the kiddos are in bed and when they are doing their own electronic time. My devotion/prayer time needs to come first, chores next and I need to spend less time on my phone!

A bientôt!

That is a fabulous outfit! I love that more and more women’s dresses are coming out with pockets in them as they are so handy.

That’s a lovely post, Mireille, and your outfit is great as it really suits you and the dress is fab and exactly what I’d wear but not for several month, as it can be freezing in April and even May, especially when there’s a north wind blowing!

I think two blogs a week is fine and shows that you are a normal person with a life worth leading outside the blogging community. A good decision – have a great week 🙂

Definitely got cooler this week so no dresses I think! But it sure is comfortable! I enjoy writing my blog post and linking up and reading other blogs but it does get time consuming sometimes.

I love how you put more important things first! That’s a gorgeous dress, the color, the ruffles! Wonderful, I’ll bet it looks even more fabulous on black, I love black dresses! Enjoy the weather, we have a few warm days here, yeah!

    • mimifce

Black was good too! I wore it a couple weeks ago with my yellow jacket but I think next time with do white jacket and black and white striped sandals.

I enjoy reading your blogs and seeing how you make outfits from your closest.

I am glad you are putting prayer and devotions ahead of your blog. IT is so easy to get busy and lose our priorities.

You are smart to prioritize your time Mireille!! And your money….waiting until things go on sale is always good!!!
I love these shoes with the dress this way. I knew you could find other ways to wear them!!!

Oh, my gravy…you look AMAZING in this dress. What a darling style. Very flattering fit to show off your great figure. And that color!! Beautiful on you. Love the photo of you sitting on the log on the ground. I am seeing lots of pretty, affordable dresses this spring. Hope you will wear this darling dress often and in good health.

Enjoy your time away. I am struggling so with my blog. And I don’t know what to do about them. So frustrating. I just want to cry.

    • mimifce

I hope you find a solution soon, I know how frustrating it can be and my pbs were a lot smaller than yours! I am enjoying taking fun pics lately. Thankful for my little photographers!

This dress is fab and I could see it going so many directions! Gold sandals and jewelry for a wedding? Black cardigan and black sandals? It is flattering and a good color for you! I think you should continue the challenge and keep a running list in your closet of holes/things you have wished for and see if you still think you need them at end of month. I really need to do this, too.

    • mimifce

I am going to try! I know I do want a full length kimono (or a dress with buttons that can work as one) and some colorful cute tees but that is it!

  • Michelle

Lovely dress, Mireille! And I really like the way you’ve styled it. I understand the need for prioritizing other activities over the blog – and I don’t have young children. But because I do love blogging, it’s easy for me to devote ever more time to it. Then all of a sudden I’m burned out. So, I’m only writing one or two posts a week. (I don’t count the Traffic Jam Weekend party post as I don’t write that one. The content is emailed to me.)

    Enjoy your time away!

I tried that dress in the gingham print and it didnt’ fit me right in the back…I was so disappointed. It will be an easy one to dress up and down and will transition well to fall too.

    • mimifce

The teal one fit very different than the black, I ended up trying the black in xs and it worked! I am looking forward to wearing them both in different ways, adding a belt and different toppers.

This is such a pretty and flattering dress on you! I love the color, and any garment with pockets makes so much sense. Also, this is a lovely post, reminding us just how easy it is to lose sight of what is most important. Sometimes taking a deep breath and reprioritizing is necessary. Thanks for sharing and have a great week!

That dress is such a fabulous find, Mireille! I love the colour of it, as well as the shape. And you’re right, you can never go wrong with pockets. I love dresses that have them!
Those earrings are perfect too, as is the addition of the denim jacket.
I hope you enjoy your time off from blogging.

I am enjoying not having to take pics but I did plan out my posts for the rest of the month. I am not bringing my computer on our spring break so that will be more of a real break!

  • Mica

What a lovely dress! I really like the bright accessories with it – the earrings and bracelets are fantastic with the teal!

I’m the same with my blog – it will only ever be a hobby for me which means I work on it early in the morning (like now) or late at night while the kids sleep. sometimes I try get a little done at lunch time while they have “quiet time” in their rooms but that time is getting shorter and shorter as they get older, haha!

Hope you are having a good Easter weekend 🙂

  • Gail

Those colors are so harmonious together! The dress is a wonderful shape and style. Thanks for linking at #WowOnWednesday

I do really like the colour and style of this dress and it works so well with your denim jacket. Sometimes life does get in the way of blogging and I only blog once a week . I don’t know how you do it so often with your little ones. I hope you all have a wonderful Easter.

    • mimifce

Most of the time it gives me something to do: I really do love doing too many house chores, lol! It is easier now that my youngest can play by himself some.

  • Rena

Great outfit. I saw that dress in the store and I’ve been tempted to get it myself. And I totally understand your need to step back and reprioritize how you balance your time between all of your obligations. The new theme looks awesome.

That is a lovely dress, I love the whole outfit. Yes I am the same with the blogging dilemma – really it is just a hobby but when I do a collaboration I get quite stressed about fitting it all in and doing my best! Michelle x

This dress is so pretty! I love the color of it and the design/fit. I struggle sometimes with what to style some of my Jambu sandals with, too and I don’t know why! I have been conteplating some time off from my own blog… I may take the entire summer off, which I’ve never done before… but, this past school year has drained me to my core and as my kids have gotten older and in these tween/teen years I feel life has gotten busier (not easier) and I feel the need to do more activites with them to get them off those darn electronics more. I am not sure yet if I’ll take such a huge break yet, but I’m considering it… then, I’d come back fully recharged in the fall. I’ve def. been neglecting my bible study time, which is another thing that bothers me!

I agree about doing stuff with the kids to have them off the electronics. The boys enjoy our outings in small doses so I plan to balance it out this summer. They already have been forewarned about chores happening more and we plan to spend time at the pool too.

Mireille, this dress is so fun! I absolutely adore this shade of teal on you. And your earrings are gorgeous and such a wonderful pop of extra bright color! I got inspired by you changing your blog format around so I went for it myself! I was long overdue for an update. But now I have to figure out all the little stuff with the new theme. Ugh. What a process! Thanks for linking with me, my friend!

This dress is wonderful! Looks great with or without the jacket, and I think it was a great pair with the shoes!

I commend you for taking a blogging break to focus on other things. I sometimes find myself spending way too much time on my blogs, and online in general. It’s always nice to take a break, and come back with fresh eyes.

    • mimifce

Yes and now I will be catching up a little: the good thing is that the vacation gave me lots to write about.

  • Ada Furxhi

Yeay for getting a couple of new dresses from Target. I actually bought this same dress in the gingham print (still need to wear it) and a couple more from Target during their 20% off sales. But that’s pretty much all I got for me recently. I have other things to shop for these days, this year. 😉

    • mimifce

I keep having to slow myself down: I don’t shop for a while and I decide what to look for and then boom I start spending! Once again, I am giving myself a shopping break!
