Styling Emerald Green for Spring: March Sunday Showcase

When Ada suggested wearing emerald green for this Sunday Showcase, I thought about my dark emerald green tank (which would be a little harder to style for the weather) and then this green dress from Target which is a more muted emerald green. Emerald is a slighthly bluish vivid green but since there is a wide range of colors that fit the description, I thought this dress fit the theme well and I decided to style it in a new way. I last featured it in this post last year with a different denim jacket.

I took these pictures on a sunny afternoon last week and I couldn’t believe these trees were already in full bloom in February. It makes me concerned for the apple trees in North Georgia who bloomed early last year and froze in a late April frost.

I plan to wear this one Sunday this month as this sleeveless dress is very comfortable and the white accents make it a cheery outfit. White earrings, white sneakers, white jacket and even a white belt!

I finally thought to add a brooch on my lapel which was inspired by Jodie and Grace who have been wearing brooches lately on their outfits. I love how these 5 weeks of no shopping are helping me create some more new outfits. It is helpful too that the weather is transitioning to spring here which gives me a variety of options. I just put away all of my heavy sweaters and also transitioned my wardrobe this week.

A couple of my accessories have some special memories associated with them: the bracelet is one I got in Mexico at a market when we lived there and if I remember correctly I had bought 3 of the brooch pin for me and my 2 college friends. My other 2 bracelets were from a fair trade box subscription I used to have years back. The purse was bought with gift card from my brother and has been featured many times on the blog.

I am definitely ready for spring but I am not looking forward to the temperatures that will arrive soon. While we have enjoyed dinners outside already here and there, some afternoons in the 70s have been a little hot for my taste. Imagine heat, humidity and bugs in a couple of months!

The boys have enjoyed this weather too: they spend hours outside in the afternoon (which balances their electronics time). The funny thing about this particular day is that I went running that morning (yes, that infamous 4:45 am run) and we got caught in the rain. The morning was gloomy and cloudy until midday and this beautiful blue sky.

I do love these pretty blooms. But with blooming trees will come the pollen and my 8 year old really suffered from allergies last year. Even my 4 year old had some problems: last year, there was a week he threw up and I still think that is was all the pollen he inhaled!

I started looking at my haircut pins on Pinterest and I think I may go with a little different hairstyle. I will have to schedule something in the next couple of weeks.

Here is another look at Ada’s look.

I love how vivid her top is and it reminds me of the color of a tank I enjoy wearing in the summer. I love the contrast with the brown blazer trimmed with black. Pretty accessories too: love those earrings!

I have always loved Norman Rockwell’s art and how it depicts snapshots of life. I remember going to the Opryland hotel years ago (before kiddos so about 15+ years) and seeing some large reproductions there. I chose Terri from MeadowTreeStyle as my favorite last month. I absolutely love all of the red accents in her outfits especially the beret and gloves.

Thank you for the feature. What a nice surprise! I always love me some good greens and your jacket is perfect for setting off the green in the dress. Interestingly enough, my last post was all about green so I guess it would be appropriate to link it up on your green day. Congratulations on making it so long with your no-buy. Take care, Terri

You are welcome Terri! I have a greeen skirt I am wearing this week. I don’t have a lot of green but I do like it as a color.

That green dress is lovely on you – I really like it with the denim jacket! 🙂 I love dresses and denim jackets for spring! I wear it a lot in autumn too but so far autumn has been just like summer and is still hot and humid, no opportunity for layering!

Hope that you had a good weekend! Was a hot and sunny one here 🙂 Thanks for the link up!

Yes, I am hoping we get some in between weather to wear all of my denim jacket. I actually have a post with ways I have worn them in the past coming up next week.

That is a beautiful outfit. I love the color of that dress! We are enjoying weather in the mid-50’s today and watching as all the ice and snow melt. I’m sure we’ll see a few more flakes before spring weather is here to stay but this is usually the month I feel like winter starts winding down and I am so ready for that (though I could do without the allergies in spring!).

I do like the color and need to try some contrasting colors with it too. It’s supposed to be 38 as a high on Saturday, crazy!

Sorry for the late reply, but I didn’t get the email yesterday?? Can you check your subscriber list for me? It’s [email protected]
I love how you put the brooch on the collar. I always seem to go for the pocket of the jacket, but I like it up higher. I’ll have to try that next time,

I will double check, that’s kind of weird! And I should have gotten a close up of the brooch! Details, details… I ran out of time!

Mireille, this is a lovely outfit! You look fabulous in green! We had 74 degree weather on Saturday (I think) and today back to the 30s! My daffodils have been up since November, but I doubt they will actually bloom as they’ve been snowed on and iced over so many times this winter! No flowers yet on anything.

Thanks so much for the link up!

Thanks, Marsha! It’s weird, those blooms are already done and I am seeing a lot of other ones turning to leaves already.

Beautiful outfit! The color combo is perfection. Our trees have also started to bloom and it feels a bit early but I can’t complain because they are just so beautiful. In terms of weather we are already having high 70s and it makes me sad that it’s warming up so quickly. I am in the minority but I do enjoy cold weather. So embracing what’s left of it before we transition completely to a warmer one. Wishing you a beautiful week ahead!

I love all of the seasons but I don’t like it when it keeps flip flopping. Have a wonderful week!

Mireille, this dress is so pretty! Emerald green is my absolute forever favorite color. I really like the white accents with this color, too. You are right that it makes a very cheerful and upbeat combination. And your little bag is abslutely adorable! This whole outfit is spring perfection! I love that you feautred Terri’s Norman Rockwell SIA post, too! Fun!

Thank you, Shelbee! I loved Terri’s outfit and I am always trying to spread the love =) I know green really looks great on you! I need to wear it more or add more of it to my closet.
