Thanksgiving Outfit: Plaid Shirt Dress

I usually don’t end up wearing my Thanksgiving looks it reality since we have been spending Thanksgiving at the beach the last 5 years but I love coming up with ideas that would work for family gathering throughout the fall and into winter. Here are the last two years’ outfits (mini skirt and sweater, denim skirt and shacket, and denim and poncho looks). This year’s Thanksgiving outfit features a Target Plaid Shirt dress. The funny thing is that I tend to take these pictures in the same location each year as I usually take blog pictures early and take my Thanksgiving outfit pictures mid October when the cotton is fully in bloom. However I had taken some pictures there already so these are in the picnic area at the Indian Mounds.

For some reason I just haven’t liked any plaid shirt I have bought in the past, however this plaid dress is a keeper. I was able to get it on sale so it was less than $25 and I plan to try it as a jacket too. Today, I paired it with one of my favorite pairs of boots: my cowboy boots. These have been ones I reach for a lot this fall.

I alternate between several purses in the fall. This boutique find from last year has been a favorite when I want something with a boho feel. My son thought it matched the vibe of the boots perfectly.

With its long sleeves the dress is versatile and will be worn through the winter. It’s easy to roll the sleeves up when it is warm or add a layer underneath when it is cold.

I can see it with my white or my black leggings and all of my boots and booties. More bang for my buck: that is what your wardrobe should be doing for you. It should offer a number of outfits per piece.

I may end up bring this to the beach but if I do I will pair it with sneakers and roll up the sleeves. Typically, I pack more for our beach vacation to offer me more possibilities.  The mornings can be cool but the afternoons fairly warm. This year, I am packing a neutral (whites, tan, stripes and rust) wardrobe. I hope to take some blog pictures in pretty settings.
