Styling Denim for Summer with the Ageless Style Link Up

Today’s outfit started with this cute pair of earrings which I received as part of a giveaway hosted by Scrub Studio Soaps and SG Sparkles. The set of honeycomb and bee mismatched earrings is so fun and made me think of my French striped top right away. I then thought of my denim skirt which fit perfectly for the today’s theme for the Ageless style link up so here is my denim for summer look!

Since I do not wear jeans in the summer (it is too hot and humid for denim pants), I either wear my denim shorts or my denim skirts in the warm months. This denim skirt was a hand-me down from my fun and thrifty friend, Rachel with whom I enjoy thrifting.

I had to retake this picture from a different angle as I didn’t realize that the space between the buttons of the skirt was showing too much skin the way I was sitting. Sometimes there are details we do not notice until I upload the pictures to my computer.

I love how quickly I put this together and how well it turned out. It’s simple but simple is good in the summer. Light accessories are my preferred choice on a hot day and this pair of sandals makes the rotation quite often.

Looking at this picture makes me realize that I get a lot of my outdoor decor from Aldi. The honey welcome sign (it’s reversible) and wreath are from there, but I am not sure about the mat. I have bought several from Aldi but this one might have been from Target. Anyhow, my point is that I do like to go down the fun aisles at Aldi because there are some good finds to decorate your house. Not everything is created equal as I bought 2 things that I can think of that were cheaply made: a pair of sunglasses I returned and cheap tupperware that I ended up throwing out.

Do you wear denim in the summer? Do you ignore your jeans during this season or is it cool enough where you live to wear them? I am glad denim skirts are back in style because they can be fun to wear and there are so many styles, lengths and washes.

    It looks like most of us iin the group have chosen skirts to wear for this challenge, they are cooler in the summer. I love this look on you! It’s one of my favorite outfits of yours.

    Those earrings are so cute!! I feel like you have such good luck with giveaways. I love it paired with that yellow top. And so true about the denim skirt, there’s all sorts of things I never notice about my clothes until looking at the photos.

      I don’t enter a ton of giveaways but the ones I do are not usually enormous ones where you follow half a dozen people that have a bazillion followers. I think that helps!

    That is such an adorable summer outfit and those bee/honeycomb earrings are the perfect inspiration. I think it’s a rather fitting set for you this summer as well after just having helped harvest some honey!

    We find some great treasures at Aldi’s too, but we haven’t been in ages.
    No wearing jeans in our weather (except I did when we went to the movie last week), but I love all the other options. Your outfit is so fabulous Mireille,

    This is such a lovely outfit on you! I love the way your skirt has buttons all the way down, it really adds dimention to the skirt. Also, that top is so flowy, sunny, and perfect for summer. Now, lets also talk about how cute your front porch area is. The Welcome sign is my favorite with the splash of color. Love it all!

    Mireille I haven’t owned a denim skirt in years… yours is perfect, and you’re right: I think that’s the way to wear denim in summer!

    Though saying that, August has been rubbish in the UK so I’ve actually worn my jeans quite a lot, like today: booo

    What great fun those earrings are. And I love the reversible porch sign. I saw some super cute ones for fall at Dollar Tree. One read “The Witch is In” in purple glitter. Might have to go back for it!!

    You are so right, simple is better in the summer. I am always drawn to ruffles and lace and prints but they can all be so fussy. That yellow top is so summery and fresh and fuss-free. I have a similar shorter denim skirt. Need to remember that about the buttons allowing a peek of skin between each one. When I bought my long denim skirt, I loved it. But either my body has changed or my taste in skirts because it doesn’t make me smile like it did. I think I am on the look out for a new long one.

      My style does change: I just put aside about 5 things from my closet that I just don’t wear anymore and are just not me anymore.

    Those earrings are just so cute and I love the yellow top with them and the denim skirt. I love Aldi too, but I have to stop myself going down those non-food aisles as I am always tempted!
