Tweed with the Ageless Style Link Up
It was my turn to choose a theme for the month of January, and as I was putting together some outfits to wear one week in November, I thought it was time to wear this skirt again. While I have seen many tweed jackets while thrifting and some really cute ones, I have never brought any home, maybe because I really don’t need another jacket especially one that I might not wear as often as my others. However, I really do like this tweed mini skirt I have had for several years even if I don’t wear it often. I usually wear it about twice each winter (I shared it first in this post and then in a casual outfit here) and thought it would be fun for everyone to share how they wear tweed. I know a couple of the gals might have had to search deep in their closet or might have had to shop for something, but I hope this will encourage you to try something different but that can still be you.

My teen and I sometimes differ on opinion on what I wear, and he can be pretty funny with his comments. He described this outfit as wacko. However, I really like it! I wore it on a weekday for grocery shopping and school pick ups!

I wanted to try layering under my pink “suede” top and chose a thrifted 3/4 sleeve blouse I thrifted. The pink purse and top were both thrifted for $1 each which is pretty amazing. I just need to remember to keep a little cash in my wallet for the occasional foray in the little church community shop downtown. Everything is 1 to 3 dollars! While this week is too cold for this outfit, it would have worked last week with our mild weather.

I renewed my historic site pass the week before these pictures so there will be more blog pictures here! Lots of pretty backdrops for pictures!

I like that this top can be worn alone and layered under: I don’t often layer under my tops, but this fall and winter, I have been having fun layering button downs under sweaters and such. This top will work well with a Halftee in the spring too. I may add thrifted items pretty regularly to my closet, but I restyle them over and over.

I always have to share the back of my boots: I love the detail on them and the fact that the heel is low, the color a rich cognac makes me reach for them over and over. I looked back to when I first shared them (here is a little blast from the past) and it was 2020. I like sharing the links to older posts wearing the same pieces to show you that even though I add and sometimes get rid of things, a lot of what I have in my closet has been around for a while. Most of what I donate is because of fit or because I probably should not have bought in the first place or because my style has changed.

That is a super cute outfit!

Your son loses on this one… The only thing wacko about this outfit is the photographer.
Bravo, for layering under this tank top, and I think everything about this outfit looks fabulous.

He makes me laugh! He said the same about my outfit yesterday with my black denim top and the suede corset!

Thanks, I felt really cute in it!

I had to laugh when you described your teen son statement about your outfit. My son can often be the same. I think sons prefer their moms just looking like moms wearing typical mom clothes ha ha. I love this outfit. That skirt is amazing. You must have some great thrift stores by you. I’ve given up thrifting as I never find anything. I was one who had to buy something tweed as I didn’t have any tweed in my closet. But it turned out to be a great thing for I ended up out of my comfort zone and liking the results.

Great! I cannot wait to read your post!

I absoultely adore your tweed skirt, what a good find. I love the color and how it can really go with anything. The layerd look is super cool. After I took the photos, I realized I have a tweed pair of pants that I adore and kind of wish I had gone with them. Oh well.

I really really liked this outfit!

I like your tweed skirt, though for me it would be too short. I always associate tweed with Mrs. Marple but now I see it can be very youthful too!
mimifce
I don’t wear things that short very often, but it was fun for a change!
Jennifer
I love this outfit so much! Reminds me of something from Clueless or Gossip Girl.

You know, you are right, it does give that vibe!

That is a great little skirt and in tweed too. I love tweed but it is harder and harder to find in the shops and indeed, pre-loved. Love the bag too!

Thanks, Penny!

Clearly, your son’s opinion has been outweighed by all the positive comments here. Maybe he meant wacko in that the outfit was different from your usual style? Whatever the case, it is super duper cute. Love the skirt as does everyone else. And check out your great looking legs!! Love the layers, the scarf, the little bit of sock peeking over the top of the boots and the soft pink bag. Beautiful spot for your photo shoot, too. Glad you renewed your historic pass.

Maybe anything that is different is wacko in his opinion. I really loved this one: interesting and fun outfit!
Mica Away From Blue
I agree with you and disagree with your teen, I like this layered outfit! The skirt is so good on you and I love the boots with it! 🙂
mimifce
Thanks, Mica! I haven’t worn this skirt much, but this is my favorite outfit so far with it.
Kathrine Eldridge
I really love the layering with this look. The mix of the suede and tweed is so chic!
