Inspired by Manon: a Monochromatic Khaki Look
Sometimes it takes seeing someone wear something to realize you can create a similar look from you closet. I will share the inspiration picture at the end of my post, but today I am sharing my version of a 3 piece suit with pieces in my closet. I was surprised how much I enjoyed wearing this and how perfect it was for our weather. Spring over here means rainy days that can get warm and of course swinging temperatures: false spring sometimes comes before spring.

Since you all love to read my family comments about my outfits, today’s gem is from my husband as he walked out the door and I was wearing this outfit (the day after I got my blog pictures): “are you Crocodile Dundee?”. I guess I can see it a little with the all khaki look.
I do love how these khaki pieces work together even though they are all different shades of the color and were bought at very different times over quite a few years. The short sleeve jacket is the oldest purchase (I might have bought it before we moved to this house which puts it at at least 9 years and the most recent is the khaki pants which I found on clearance at Tjmaxx in February.

I took advantage of my oldest being home and wanting some discretionary money to take several sets of blog pictures for me. Since he is taller than the rest of the boys, I usually like his pictures the best. While a lot of my wardrobe is thrifted, the only thrifted piece here is my clutch. I really wanted to add some colors to this look and that was a great pop of color.
I have another vest (that one thrifted) which I haven’t worn as much. I should try to create a navy suit with it! It would be a less structured look since I would pear it with flowy pants and a fitted kimono. I am glad spring is coming even though it means summer is next. I do enjoy the trees blooming and the grass turning green. Spring is pretty in the south. It just gets hot too fast for my taste.

A bientôt!

This turned out fabulous. Of course I really love the pops of color (the bracelet too) that makes it amazing. And the husbands think they are so funny, don’t they?

I like your husband’s sence of humor in his reference to our Australian culture :), On a serious note, this is a very nice outfit. Like that the vest is longer than the jacket, it adds a point of different as well as your bright accessorie4s. Anna

I’ve always loved khaki and red is the perfect colour to add. Lovely spring look. It’s also my favourite dragon. It’s so great to hear the birds again. I especially love those spring mornings when it’s still a bit chilly, but you know it’s going to be a warm day.
