Spring Trend 2026: Black Leggings Capri
When I searched for this year’s spring trends, I was surprised to see black leggings capris as one of them, but after seeing an inspiration picture, I quickly came up with an outfit I could wear and share by combining some pieces in my closet that I had never put together in one outfit. I have had a pair of black leggings capris for years, wearing them mostly as a layering piece under tunics and short dresses in the past. This pair is fairly old, I am not sure how old it is, I would guess about 10 years, and if I remember correctly I bought it at Walmart for around $10.

I asked Jodie if she wanted to join me in sharing a modern outfit for this trend and was glad she decided to join in the fun. Here is her post!I had fun choosing some pieces that are similar in shape to the inspiration picture. Of course, I could have come up with a totally different outfit, but this is an exercise I really have fun with: copycat an outfit without buying anything new! It doesn’t mean that I am not creative, it just means I have fun creating outfits in this manner.
This blue jacket is one of my favorite color: I love royal blue: I find it to be a happy color! Now looking at it with the beehive sign in the background is making me want to pair this jacket with something yellow from my closet: I have a couple yellow pairs of pants! I made the outfit mine by adding a scarf through the shoulder strap. I also just realized that my jacket (which is a couple years old) fits in with the crop trench trend. I buy things because I like them, not because they are trendy. You need to know what you like and what you know you will wear.

There are some things that are workhorses in a closet and that you shouldnt’ get rid of because they are handy for layering or can be the base of an outfit. White tanks are such pieces. I have a number of white tanks: my favorites are this flowy one and a fitted thick one I picked up last summer in Arizona, but I have a couple of Target ones too. This flowy one is perfect for coverage with the leggings.
My fun blue readers were a fun addition: I have several pairs of readers and I mostly alternate between a burgundy pair and this one. I am on the lookout for another fun pair. I haven’t worn my “new” sandals yet this year. I had my sons buy them for me at Christmas when I saw them on clearance. They are really cute! Do you own a pair of cropped leggings? You might have a pair that you work out in: see if you can come up with an outfit with them!
A bientôt!

It is not something I would wear everyday, but I just saw her post and I sure love the look with the oversized blazer!

The scarf on the jacket….that’s such a fabulous element. I love how you took this inspiration and made it your own.

Your outfit looks chic! I never associate capri leggings with chic but you did it :). I have capri leggings that I wear to run in sometimes. I’ve never worn them as part of an outfit. I may have to rethink that :).

I usually don’t wear these as clothes but more like a layer.

Oh I love this!! I have some black pants kinda like this but they go closer to my ankles.

Thanks, Jill! Yes, that’s a good way to describe a look with a black Capri: retro!

I had some for around the house, but I’m “blessed” with what we like to call “footballer calves” and they keep creeping up which I don’t like.
That’s a lovely pop of blue with the black and white.

That would be annoying for them to creep up and not stay in place.
