Bike Rides at the Beach

One of my favorite activities at the beach is to go on bike rides whether solo or as a family. It is always a little difficult as a family as my kids range from 8 years old to 19 which means we do have a younger one in tow who gets tired before everyone else. With that in mind, we still went on several bike rides ranging from 8 miles to 16 miles.

Bike Ride to Topsail State Park

This was a fun ride with the 3 older boys. We decided to go to one end of 30A (the closer end to where we stayed, which meant that the State Park was just about 5 miles away. We came across a corn snake and even though we looked for alligators, we didn’t see any!

Solo Bike Ride to Watercolor

I took a Thanksgiving bike ride on my own to enjoy some morning exercise and beautiful weather. It was 48 degrees so still a little bit cold, but since I was biking on my own, I was able to go faster and warm up fast.

We take an annual picture of the boys here and they now know to expect it at some point on our trip. I got a great one this year with everyone smiling! We usually have at least one unhappy person, so I was excited.

Family Ride to Seagrove and Beyond

This was our longest bike ride and we had hoped to bike to Alys Beach which would have been about 12 miles from where we stayed. However, by the time we left, ate lunch in Seaside and the speed we biked, we had to turn around before reaching our destination. We needed to get back before sunset and put our turkey breast in the oven. We still enjoyed our ride despite some complaints and tears and we were glad for having brought sweatshirts and hats: the wind was biting!
