What to Wear on a Picnic
There is no right or wrong for what to wear on a picnic, and I have worn dresses, flowy pants and denim to eat outdoors in the past. For today’s post, I took inspiration from a picture on Pinterest that featured a neutral outfit similar to the one I am sharing today. I have several baskets and a tote that I use for picnics, but today, I wanted to use this wicker picnic basket I found at an antique shop last year. It took me about a year of searching to find one in the price range I wanted: I did not want to spend $40 for something I would just use a few times a year and that would be decor the rest of the time. I found this basket for $15.

The basket is spacious enough to hold a picnic blanket (I found a cotton one on Amazon) and your food! I created a little picnic pouch which I will share on Wednesday with what I like to have handy if I decide to have a solo picnic (pretty much all of my picnics are solo in the middle of the week).
The main requirement for what to wear on a picnic is something that you can move in: these pants are stretchy and have an elastic waist so if I chose to sit on the ground, I will not encounter pain from a too tight waistband. I find sneakers and sandals comfortable so either would work. For warm days, a lightweight shirt is appropriate. I could have gone for something more casual like a tee. Since it was overcast the day of these pictures, I didn’t wear a hat, but I would if I were sitting in the sun.
While I like my jeans, I have a couple pairs of pants like these that are stretchy, lightweight and don’t lose their shape that I really enjoy wearing in the spring. I thought it was interesting though that my son wanted to make sure I dressed up more than this for his tennis banquet. I had planned on wearing a dress and I did, but I found his comment interesting none the less.

I really enjoy eating outside and as I shared in a recent post, I like to try to do so at least once a week, in a place other than my porch. It really depends how busy my week is whether I can or not. Having my parents move in with us has had its ups and downs and I am definitely more busy for sure. I also find that I need to take a break and be outdoors and soak up some fresh air and sunlight to recharge.
A bientôt!
