Short Sleeve Denim Jacket

I mentioned on the blog several times this year how I wanted to thrifted a denim short sleeve jacket. After keeping my eyes peeled for one for a few months, I decided that the easiest way to get one was to create one from a regular long sleeve one. So last month, when I noticed this fun denim jacket with an embroidered sunflower patch on the back for just a few dollars, I decided that I would cut the sleeves off to create my own. Why did I want a short sleeve denim jacket? I have several sleeveless dresses that I like to wear to church, but want to cover my shoulders and I only have one short sleeve jacket which is tan. I wanted another option!

I used my MIL zigzag scissors which are more forgiving that regular shears and cut at the length I wanted, then threw the jacket in the wash which frayed the hems. The fit of the jacket is slightly boxy which works well for warm days giving more of an air flow.

I wanted to keep the outfit summery, so chose my accessories accordingly. I do not wear my circle purse much because it’s awkward to fit things in, but it’s fun for summer. My white dress was thrifted several years ago and I wear it loose or belted. It is lined, but I still wear a short slip with it.

I know I will be wearing this a lot of over the years. However, I have noticed this summer that I really wear 3 pairs of sandals on the daily while my others I just pull out for special occasions. I need to pay attention to my buying patterns in the shoe department. This little shoes are really cute, but not my most comfortable.
