Double Duty with the Ageless Style Link Up
Danael of Outside the Stacks came up with the theme for this month: double duty! I thought right away to a trick both Jodie (Jtouchofstyle) and Grace (Graceful Rags) have used: wearing a skirt as a top! I purchased a cute skirt at a consignment store last month and have worn it already a few times. I love the colors and the waist is smocked so it stretch and is really comfortable.
The colors lend themselves to many colorful tops (aqua and peach come to mind but I decided to wear it with white. I added my rattan belt for some added definition at the waist and chose my new colorful espadrilles (here).
My tote is a souvenir from our trip to Spain in 2019. I am so glad we took that trip to Spain and France then. We actually traveled to Europe 3 times in 4 years which is very unusual for us. I am very grateful for that opportunity because we usually would only try to go every 4 to 5 years or so!
I haven’t worn a statement necklace in a while and this one, I think I found at World Market 4 to 5 years ago. I have some pieces of jewelry I do not wear often but hold onto. And now onto the fun part of the post! How will this skirt look as a top?
I tried it two ways: tucked and untucked. I knew I wanted a black bottom and after trying it with a black skirt, I decided to pair it with these very old bermuda shorts. They are my least favorite waist: low but I usually can make them work and they are pretty comfortable.
I actually don’t mind the proportions with it untucked either. I think it works fairly well both ways. Now I do apologize for my squinty eyes in all of these pictures: I need to look up and not right at the phone camera!
I can’t wait to see what the other ladies chose as their double duty piece of clothing! It is fun to try to be creative and while I sometimes like to reach for some basics and create simple looks, it is equally as nice to try to come up with something different.

So cute Mireille!! I love seeing you style your skirt both ways. I agree, I think the skirt works both tucked and untucked. The pattern is very pretty and your shoes are the perfect pop of color!

I LOVE the skirt even more as a top! I think it would look amazing with a full, swooshy maxi skirt (either tucked in or not). Tres elegant!

Great idea! I actually have a coral orange skirt like that that I should pair it with!
Carrie
This skirt is so stunning. It looks great as a skirt and top. Great idea for double duty…all of you who have done it.

That skirt was such a good thrift find!

What a great idea to wear the skirt as a top! It looks great both ways, actually all three ways, and I’m loving that print! I can’t decide wether I like it more tucked in or out, leaning towards tucked in but it’s hard to decide. I think it would also look good with white jeans!

I kind of like it tucked better too. But I was pleasantly surprised how good it looked.

I really like the skirt untucked, but it is super cute tucked in, too! I need to try this as I have a lot of skirts and I’d probably wear them more often as tops than skirts (since I’ve been so casual lately!).

It is a fun way to change up one’s wardrobe! Jodie style 2 skirts this way this week and it gave be a couple more ideas!

Such a fun print on that skirt. And how incredibly creative to use the skirt as a top. I’m going to have to give that a try once it warms up and the rain stops. I agree with you, the skirt works tucked and untucked.
mimifce
Sure do hope the rain does stops for you. That is not fun especially if it is flooding. I am going to have to try it with a couple other ones.

That skirt is so cute both ways! I love the pretty print of it! I need to dig through my closet and see if that works with any of my skirts!
mimifce
Yes, I have a couple that I can do it with!
Mica
this is such a cute skirt and it looks so good worn as both a skirt and a top! it’s been a while since I’ve worn a skirt or dress as a top like this – I can’t do strapless bras after pregnancy and breastfeeding, haha! But I used to do this when I was younger! Now I wear dresses as tops by layering skirts over them instead, ha!
Hope you are having a nice weekend 🙂
mimifce
It was pretty fun to wear it shortly like this. I probably would only do it for a date though.
Leslie Susan Clingan
Genius!! I was thinking the hem of the skirt would be bulky tucked in but it isn’t at all. Love the look of it tucked and untucked and worn as a skirt!! Really versatile piece. You are amazing.
mimifce
Thanks, Leslie! I just copied other’s ideas! The material of the skirt is so light and flexible so it really drapes well.
Jamie Moore
What a pretty skirt! I love the pattern!
mimifce
THanks, Jamie! It pairs with so much!
