January Sunday Showcase and Link Up: Red in Winter
As the new year starts and I take a look back at the past year and my spending in the clothing category, I am reminded that I need to make sure that what I do purchase is versatile and will be worn frequently. As I take pictures of my daily outfits, I have realized how accessories add a fun dimension to an outfit and how I am drawn to certain things (sweaters vs cardigans) more than others. So if I don’t wear cardigans much, I really do not need to invest in more for example, even if they look cute on other people. In this post, I am sharing how…

20 for 2020
Today I am joining Carrie at A Stylish Fit with a 20 for 2020 post. Please visit her post and link up! I thought this would be a nice way to remember 2020. While there were some definitely stressful times in 2020 in our family (unrelated to Covid), it was actually a good year for our family. Since this is a lengthy post, I am not going to use full size pictures as it would take quite a while to load up and scroll down. Please remember that we tend to share the good stuff but it isn’t the full picture of our life. I don’t want you to compare…

Holiday Sunday Showcase: Fun Christmas Traditions and Link Up
While we do different things in our family to remember what the real reason for the season is: the celebration of the birth of Christ (such as reading excerpts from the Gospels, going to church, looking at and playing with our Nativity scenes), today’s post is about the silly and fun things that we enjoy doing during the month of December leading to Christmas/Nativity. Ada (Elegance and Mommyhood) and I are sharing some fun Christmas traditions new and old. Don’t forget to stop by her post to see what they do the month leading to Christmas. Hot Cocoa Bar We had a few nights of hot cocoa last year but…

I will be taking a semi blog break over the next 10 days. No Friday post for the next two weeks. The last Holiday Sunday Showcase will be this Sunday. Mommy and Me: Styled for Christmas Downtown and Link Up
For this Holiday Sunday Showcase, Ada (Elegance and Mommyhood) and I decided to take pictures in our respective downtown: Detroit for her and my small town downtown for me. It was a windy and cold day for us! Sometimes 40 degrees feels warm and sometimes it is downright freezing! The city was fixing the lights at the bottom of the tree so we had to wait around a little to take our pictures so we got even colder. Still it was a fun and festive photoshoot. And as a special little treat it is a mommy and me post so you get an extra dose of cuteness! I think it…

Nativity Scenes from Around the World
Today, I thought that I would share my Nativity scenes with you. I like to put them up at the same time as the rest of my Christmas decor so the boys remember the real reason for this time of celebration. I am resharing last year’s post with the addition of one more. Italy This is my oldest nativity scene. When my oldest son was 16 months old, we traveled to Italy during the Christmas break to visit my younger brother who lived in Rome at the time. It was fun celebrating Christmas in Italy and we had many fun adventures. I found this small clay nativity scene in a…

Seaside: Bike Ride and other Fun
I am concluding my Thanksgiving travel posts with a little ride through the town of Seaside. Seaside is a beach town that was created in 1981. It’s appeal is very visual with its colorful pastel cottages, a town square accross the beach, pretty shops, and parks. The Truman Show movie featuring Jim Carrey was filmed here. We rode our bikes through the neighborhoods, the children played on the playground hidden near the tennis courts and I browsed in the shops. I love how most of the houses have little signs letting you know where the owners are from. The cottages are mostly large and while having similarities are very different…

What to Wear for Christmas
I am not the only one who was attracted to this simple but special beige sweater dress from Target. Both Lisa from Coast to Coast and Darlene from Aquamarina Style styled them in a blog post (here and here). The dress appears to be out of stock online but you may find it in store. I love that the dress can be worn with or without a belt, it is not too fitted but not boxy either. My friend and I went Christmas shopping a week ago in Marietta and I knew the square would be decorated and would be a festive background for some pictures. I chose brown accents…

Sunday Showcase: Christmas Home Tour and Link Up
Welcome to my Christmas Home Tour! Today Ada from Elegance and Mommyhood and I are sharing our Christmas decor and giving you a little home tour. I like how just like clothes can share some of our personalities with others, that Christmas decor can do the same. Don’t forget to stop by her blog post to see more pictures of her home decorated for the holidays! You can also join us with the link up by adding your recent holiday or fashion posts. I would describe my decorating style as minimalistic but festive. I enjoy decorating but I do not like clutter so I had festive touches every where in…

The Adagio: Spending More on a Vacation
I have one more post to share about our trip to the beach this past Thanksgiving with little tour of Seaside. Today, I wanted to share where we stayed and discuss why I was okay with spending more than we usually do on a one week vacation in the US. As I have mentioned before, we chose to rent along 30A in Santa Rosa beach because we wanted to rent bikes, there were several pretty little towns to explore and the beaches are beautiful. The Adagio I usually pride myself on finding nice accomodations for a low budget but this year, I decided that since we were not going to…
