Asymetrical skirt: Creativity in Dressing
When you have a month long series featuring skirts, you try to be creative with the outfits your present. There are still 4 more types of skirts to share. Today, it is the asymetrical skirt. You can really only see the asymetrical lines in the first picture as I forgot about that being the focus. I chose to dress down this thrifted skirt by adding some casual elements to it. I think the 2 different directions of the stripes makes this a really fun skirt. It has some stretch and is a pull on skirt. I originally thought to pair it with a different top but it just didn’t look…

Dressing up A Pencil Skirt
I really enjoy the lines of a pencil skirt but still want to be comfortable while wearing one. So nearly all of my pencil skirts are made of nice stretchy fabric and have an elastic waistband. I only purchased clothes from SheIn once and this was one of 4 skirts I bought. I have worn it a lot with casual tees so this time I want to dress it up a little while still creating a comfortable outfit. I chose this pretty purple lace tank I found at one of my favorite local consigment store (Uptown Cheapskate) a couple of months ago. I have tried really hard to make sure…

Casual Denim Skirt Outfit
Skirts in July! Ada and I are bringing you loads of inspiration for the skirts in your closet! Maxi, midi, mini, knit, wrap and more! Today, I am sharing an outfit featuring one of my two denim skirts. I love the longer cut of this one and how the split and light wash keep it modern. I paired it with a top from I’ll have what she’s wearing that I won in a giveaway a couple of months ago. I wore espadrilles I picked up on clearance last year at Old Navy which makes this outfit about $20: probably one of my most budget friendly outfits: my mom gifted me…

Wrap Skirt Summer Outfit
I am always surprised that I am more drawn to my dresses than my skirts even though I have a nice variety in each category. This fun summer challenge of wearing skirts in July has helped me utilize that section of my closet more and helped me create more outfits that will keep me cool and stylish in the summer heat. Today, I am presenting you my wrap skirt that you saw this spring styled 4 ways in this post. I wore this outfit out and about during the week and capitalized on the little yellow flowers in it to create my outfit. I could try a contrasting color in…

June No Shop: Success or Failure?
As Ada and I start our month long skirt series, you are going to have a couple extra weekly posts here and there. I wanted to share my May/June clothes spending recap before July started. My goal was to thrift more than retail as well as attempt a no shop June. Without further ado, here is what I spent and some of my favorite outfits from June. May I had a little giftcard money leftover so the first few items were $0 out of pocket. Upscale Cheapskate consignment: 2 tops, 1 pants: $36, $0 with gift card. My favorite top is below! Target Clog Sandals $28 $0 with gift card…

Casual Royal Blue Tshirt Dress Style
When I packed my bag for our week in New Orleans, I packed expecting heat so I chose several dresses and 2 pairs of wide leg pants. I wore this dress on another vacation last summer (when we spent a long weekend on Tybee Island) with a kimono and sandals (here). This time I went very casual with white sneakers and white and black polka dot earrings. I cannot abide anything too tight and constricting when I am going to be walking around in the heat and humidity so this dress was a great choice. I love this color and have a few more pieces in my closet in this…

Statement Red Pants for Breezy Summer Style
Oh, my beloved red statement pants: you have seen these before (here with leopard) and I typically wear them with black as in my first picture for my travel outfit. I’ve also paired them with a grey tee and a navy graphic tee. They always get compliments and they are very comfortable in the summer heat. After our last vacation wearing hiking clothes, I really wanted to wear some fun pieces on this vacation. I picked some things from my closet accordingly: colorful, flowy and fun pieces that would work together or solo. We visited the New Orleans botanical gardens earlier that week which is located in the city park.…

Sleeveless with the Ageless Style Link Up
I chose an appropriate and a very broad theme for our Ageless Style link up this June. Sleeveless can be a dress, a top, a vest, it can be spaghetti strap or a broad strap and with summer upon us, sleeveless might feel like a nice choice many days. I chose to share this cute little handkerchief top I found at the local Upscale Cheapskate consigment store. Since that first visit, I have gone back and picked up a few more items. I didn’t use to wear spaghetti straps tops nor halter tops until I found a strapless bra that I like. Mine is a Wacoal bra that I have…

Summer Vibes: Staying Cool with Flowy Clothes
My goal this summer is to stay cool and enjoy the outdoors while not sticking to furniture and getting bit by mosquitoes and no see ums! One way to do that is to wear flowy items in breathable fabrics. I shopped my closet (I do love my collection of loose flowy pants) to put together this light summer look. I first shared these pants in this post, after seeing them on Martha from Marsha in the Middle. The hem is really cute, the fabric light and while I have tried them with different tops, I like them best with white. I chose my new Target sandals (that replaced that pair…

Monochromatic Fuschia Look
This past month, I entered a few giveaways and I was very happy to win a $100 giveway from I’ll have what she’s wearing! It actually took me a minute to decide what I wanted to get as there were a number of things that caught my eye. One of the first pieces I chose was this fuschia top with a v-neck. I wore it with a denim skirt for a reel and have another idea for a July post but today, I thought it would be fun to share a bright monochromatic look. My son and I went to the “duck pond” to take some pictures and I have…
