June #thriftedchicstylechallenge outfits
Since returning from our early summer trip to Europe, I have bought several items of clothing and dropped another load of clothes at Goodwill. With school starting in a few weeks, money is being spent on school supplies and new shoes. As I start thinking about new vacation destinations and an empty vacation account, I need to turn my efforts to saving! In that spirit , I am sharing my June thriftedchicstyle challenge outfits. All of these items were thrifted a while back but I haven’t worn them much at all or have always worn them in the same manner. One way to keep from spending money on new clothes…

Marietta Farmers Market outing
Last Saturday, our family took a quick drive to the Marietta Farmers Market. After our fun experience in France visiting a village outdoor market, I wanted to capture a little of that feeling (nothing can compare to a French outdoor market in my opinion but you can get close!). Our little town’s market is tiny and I heard good things about the Marietta’s market so away we went. Since summer in Georgia is always hot and humid I wore my breezy floral skirt with a tank top. It was perfect for the outing and even matched my bouquet! The skirt is on clearance for $14 at the time I am…

Blue Ridge weekend
A few weeks ago, my sister in law invited us to spend a long weekend with her family in the Blue Ridge mountains just a little ways from Blue Ridge, GA. She rented a cabin on the river which we accessed by a bumpy dirt road a couple miles long. The location was perfect and restful. Free Fun One of the things that I enjoy about a short vacation in the mountains is that it can be fairly inexpensive as far as activities go. Yes, if you choose to go horseback riding, ziplining, paddle boarding the cost will add up. But you can still have fun without paying for different…

Black jumpsuit 4 ways
So after seeing bloggers sporting cute jumpsuits for a few months and trying a couple on some of my outings, I took the plunge and ordered a simple black jumpsuit on Amazon. I ordered it in medium and that was the perfect size. The jumpsuit is made of a thick tshirt like material and feels like pajamas with an elactic waist and a tie at the waist. I always love posts that show you how to wear an item several ways so here are 4 ways to wear a simple black jumpsuit in the summer. Because it is hot here in Georgia in the summer none of the looks involve…

Vacationing with extended family
While I do not typically consider visiting family a real vacation, going on vacation with some extended family can have many advantages. Our vacations typically only include ourselves and our children, but over the past last year or so, we have taken a couple of vacations with some extended family and I have changed my mind about not liking to spend my husband and our vacation time with others. I thought it would be interesting to look at the pros and cons of going on vacation with other members of your family. Pros: budget: sharing the cost of the rent and the food might allow you to afford a vacation…

Last adventure in France: Fontainebleau
This will be my last travel post about our trip to Europe. I have enjoyed reliving our adventures through writing and recording our trip. Before leaving the north of France, we decided to visit Fontainebleau, a castle that began in the medieval times (nothing much is left from that era, just a small donjon stairwell) through the 19th century. It bcomes a large palace especially during the 2nd part of the reign of Francois 1er (1494-1547). Napoleon 1st will also spend time there in the 1800s. Since my husband and I had never visited the inside of the palace and the day was forecasted to be rainy, we drove to…

One skirt, 5 ways
Since returning from our trip to Europe, I have been focusing on budgeting and saving! We enjoyed our trip so much that I want to continue to focus on family vacations. Since we live on one income, one of the ways that I can make that happen is by being careful where I spend my money. That is why most fashion related post I write might focus on one purchase worn many different ways or sharing ways to remix what you have in your closet as well as outfits inspired by other bloggers that I can recreate from items in my closet. Of course, I still will continue to buy…

A day in Paris
Ah, Paris! While it was an exhausting day trying to see all the sights, it was a beautiful day. When we asked the boys what they wanted to see or do in France, they all replied “see the Eiffel tower”. So while I have been several times to the Eiffel tower and my husband once, we decided to take a day to see our top sights in Paris. First of all, I am very grateful to my friend, Veronique who mapped out our itinerary for us. She asked me what we wanted to see in Paris and suggested we get a Mobilis pass which allowed us to use the same…

Provins, Medieval town
Provins became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2001. The town is known for its remparts, Cesar tower and fortified walls. The tower dates from the 12th century. Provins held a well known annual trade fair in medieval times and the town also boasts undergrounds tunnels with inscriptions. There are different tours you may take to learn about the city but since we had already done a couple of those in the past, this time we chose to wander the streets, the remparts and go to one of the shows, the legend of the knight. We first walked from one rempart gate to another. Since there were some renovations happening,…

My Jambu shoes experience
This post is not a sponsored post and all the opinions are mine. Why Jambu shoes? Every time that we plan a trip abroad, my first concern is what shoes will I bring on the trip? Typically a trip abroad equals lots of walking for our family. That walking might be walking through cobbled streets, hiking up a mountain or dipping our toes in a lake, river or ocean. I always make a point to read fellow bloggers’ posts about comfortable shoes. Both Jodie from Jtouchofstyle and Jess from Elegantlydressedandstyish posted about Jambu shoes within a month of each other. I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a pair of…
