Casual Denim Skirt Outfit

Skirts in July! Ada and I are bringing you loads of inspiration for the skirts in your closet! Maxi, midi, mini, knit, wrap and more! Today, I am sharing an outfit featuring one of my two denim skirts. I love the longer cut of this one and how the split and light wash keep it modern. I paired it with a top from I’ll have what she’s wearing that I won in a giveaway a couple of months ago.

I wore espadrilles I picked up on clearance last year at Old Navy which makes this outfit about $20: probably one of my most budget friendly outfits: my mom gifted me the earrings and I remember the skirt being about $10 or so.

I was on a roll taking pictures and short videos that day: trying to think ahead for summer posts, having material for short reels… Thankfully the boys were willing since they are saving money for some fun things. As I am not giving them allowance anymore, I can pay them for blog pictures and videos and when they want to buy something, they buy it themselves. It is teaching them responsability, budgeting and that it is sometimes necessary to wait for something you would like.

It is sometimes difficult to take pictures when it is really sunny: you cannot really tell how the pictures look like till you are indoors and in this case I didn’t even realize that sunny streaky haze till I was uploading my pictures! We’ll pretend it is an artful shot!

I am finding skirts to be much more comfortable in summer than shorts. It is too hot to wear jeans so a denim skirt is a great alternative. I love how this one can be worn all year long. Anytime you add something to your closet whether it is inexpensive or pricey, think about how often you will be able to wear it and whether it is a multiple purpose piece. When I picked this tee for one of my giveaway choices (I picked 3 items), I knew it could be worn with a variety of bottoms and the casual oversized vibe would make it very comfortable.

Which season do you find yourself wearing more skirts? I definitely don’t wear mine as often in winter even though I love pairing them with layers and boots.

A bientôt!

I have been so surprised how much I’m loving skirts too, and the slit in this one makes it fabulous.
I love how you teach your boys about money and budgeting…that is such an important life lesson.

I am really bad about buying something without considering ways I will be able to wear it. I have tunnel vision and usually only imagine wearing things one way. Ridiculous!! Limiting!! Expensive!!

I have 3 denim skirts. Need to either wear them or pass them along. Bought 2 of them online and they never have fit exactly right. Loose in the waist and snug across the hips. And they are above the knee but barely so kind of a weird length, too. The third is longer and fits better. Maybe I should toss the 2 and keep the one.

I like the tee you paired with yours. Looks really cute and puts the attention at your waist with the knotted treatment. Skirts can be more comfortable in the summer, I agree. And I need to remember that and start wearing mine!!

Yes, probably might as well get rid of your other two denim skirts. I have kept a darker one but really don’t wear it much.

Such an easy but super cute outfit…the combination of the turquoise and the light wash denim is so summery. In WFH mode, I have only been wearing skirts in the warm weather, but when I go into the office, I live in skirts in the cold seasons because it’s just so much more practical when dealing with the snow and slush.

Interesting that you like skirts in the winter too. I like the look with boots but don’t wear them much then.

It’s a cute summer outfit! Skirts aren’t my strong suit so I usually don’t buy any or wear them separately. I should try harder! And lol to blog photos. I have same problem and sometimes it’s such a bummer when a picture was almost the shot! I hope you are having a good start to the week so far and happy Monday!

Ha ha! Monday has been pretty stressful but nothing that couldn’t be taken care of. I think all that was needed to be taken care of has. I am sure the rest of the week will be smoother!

I love that you pay your boys to take your photos and videos! What a wise mom you are! I wear skirts year round with most in the summer, I think. When it is really cold, I don’t wear them as I don’t have really thick tights. However, since I realized workout leggings work well under skirts, that may change! Loving this series, Mireille!

Well, I don’t give them allowance anymore and they are buying their own toys so it works out well. I do wear a pair of black workout leggins under skirts in the winter sometimes and for shorter skirts I have capri ones that I sometimes wear in spring and fall.

You are inspiring me to dig into my closet and find my denim skirts! I haven’t worn one in ages and they’re such a classic. You look and Ada both look great here!

Oh, there you go – I do not have a blue denim skirt in my wardrobe (I have a white one, though). I found that I never reached for my denims, that I would always rather go with a coloured or patterned skirt instead.

My mental rule of thumb when shopping is:
    – must be able to think of at least 3 pairs of shoes that go with it (mind you, I have close to 100 pairs of shoes – this is not difficult!)
    – must be able to remember at least 4+ things that I can pair with it.

This really helps me avoid impulse purchases.

That’s such a lovely denim skirt on you and I like the bright tee with it 🙂

I really loved denim skirts last summer, I added quite a few denim mini skirts to my wardrobe – nice to have a change from denim shorts! 🙂

Thank you for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope you are having a lovely weekend 🙂 We went to a birthday party yesterday and had a playdate today 🙂

Denim skirts are definitely a closet staple for Summer and I love the light wash of this. Also the color of your top between a sky blue, light teal and mint is perfect! It is interesting to hear how your boys get money for doing things for you like taking blog pictures. It teaches them responsibility for sure! Vivian does most of my blog and INSTA photos and so far hasn’t asked for money but if she is doing a bunch of chores or helping a lot, I do give her a few dollars here and there.

    • mimifce

LOL, I need to let Vivian know she needs to ask for pay! I don’t buy them toys anymore since they save their own money for what they want.
