Beat the Heat with the Ageless Style Link Up
It’s time to beat the heat with the Ageless Style Link Up. Today’s theme was chose by Amy from Amy’s Creative Pursuits and I was inspired by one of the #wearitwednesday’s Instagram theme of bathing suits for today’s post. I really don’t mind wearing a bathing suit and wear 2 pieces, tankini sets and one pieces, but really do not like how I look in pictures when wearing one. And for modesty’s sake, I don’t usually feel confortable sharing pictures of me wearing a suit on social media. However, I really liked Jodie’s idea of wearing a bathing suit as part of an outfit and I have two tankini tops that lend themselves to such an idea.
One Shoulder Top

I really wanted to take pictures by the neighborhood pool and with that in mind, the boys and I headed there around 10 AM. However, there was one lone teenager there, so we settled with taking pictures by the clubhouse.

To elavate the outfit and make it more purposeful, I added some chunky jewelry especially that the tankini is fairly simple. I often keep my earrings when at the pool especially if they are a simple pair like these “silver” ones.

Taking these pictures was a good reminder to do regular arm workouts: I had my son retake a couple pictures! But even more than just looks, I do want to have strong bones and muscles and weekly workouts are a must: I have been trying to be consistent for the past month.
Halter Tankini Top

This is my favorite bathing suit! I love the halter neck, the colors and keyhole. I have had it a couple of years and some of my favorite pictures wearing this suit are from Costa Rica. I still think that was one of our best vacations! Costa Rica is so beautiful!

Again, I added some accessories to create an outfit and not just a skirt coverup over a bathing suit. My Oka B flip flops are not my most comfortable sandals, but they are great when around the water.
I think these two bathing suit outfits would be great when at the beach or on a resort: you can go from being in the water to going to a restaurant while feeling dressed.

What a great idea to wear a bathing suit top on a hot day!

I could see doing that for working in the yard too.

If you hadn’t said they were swim suit tops, I would never have known it! You look great in them!

LOVE this twist on using the suit as part of your outfit. Brilliant. I love the one shoulder top with the white skirt. It’s very classic and sleek. You could defiently wear either outfit to lunch when you are taking a break from the pool. I also don’t love taking photos when people are around, you think we would be used to it but NOPE. Enjoy the pool and the warm days.

Lol! Yes, and now some of my kids are embarrassed taking pictures when people are around. Thankfully, most of our usual spots are usually without people around.

Brava for wearing a tankini as a top. I think it’s such a good way to get more out of our swimwear especially if you don’t go swimming daily.

For sure and I love the key hole one especially for that!

Both of these looks are super cute!! I love that chunky necklace in the first outfit. I wore a cutout one-piece as a top once but in hindsight I think it wasn’t the right kind of swimsuit for a “real” outfit – the cutouts made it look kind of funny with the shorts.

That necklace is a fun statement piece that still feels modern. I probably only would wear either of these like this in a beach town or on vacay after going down the river. But it’s fun to play around: they both really look pretty much like real clothes.
Jennifer
I really love the off the shoulder!

I am dressing asymmetrically on my blog this week, too. I love the idea of wearing swimwear as everyday wear in the summer heat! Both of these easily pass for regular tops, and the outfits you created are very stylish. Thanks for sharing this great tip, and hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Thanks, Di! I stopped by your blog yesterday and saw that!

So clever!! I didn’t think about my off-the-shoulder or cold shoulder tops!! Great way to stay cool. And I like the look of a halter neckline and racerback tank tops. Both of those would be cool too. I bought a 2 piece bathing suit last year to wear at the beach that looks a little like a skirt and top. I like your idea of pairing a bathing suit top with a denim skirt. I feel uncomfortable prancing around much in my bathing suit. Having a go-to denim skirt to wear over it would be a great solution.

Thanks, Leslie! I thought it was a nice way to wear some of my little cotton skirts. I have another one I don’t wear much I could use too.
