Snow Princess: Styling my Oldest Piece for the Ageless Style Link Up
When Marsha suggested us styling our oldest piece for this month theme for the Ageless Link Up, I knew I could come up with something fun with this springy dress even though it is winter. I really don’t know how old this dress is, and I am not even sure where I got it from. It might have been JCPenney as I originally thought it was from Cato’s, but the tag was not from there. I know I bought it to wear for Easter years ago and I feel like it is probably 15 years old, if not more. I don’t wear it very often, but I wore it for the blog and for church in 2022 and also to my husband’s Goddaughter’s wedding a few years ago.

I had thought about taking these pictures at the beach on Thanksgiving break, and drive to Alys Beach to take some picturesque pictures with the beautiful buildings there (see here), however I didn’t want to pack one more thing. So instead of a beautiful background, you get to see how my yard looks in winter.

A snowy backyard would have been great for my idea of a snow princess outfit, but alas, I live in Georgia and despite some cold temperatures, we haven’t had a snowfall yet this year. Last good snowfall was the first week of December 2017, and since then it has only been an inch or less. To got with the snow princess theme, though, I added white boots and my soft white as snow shrug jacket.

Since I had some white earrings and bracelets, I added those and looking at these pictures, I think I want to wear this maybe to Christmas Eve church! I can always add some fleece tights if it is cold and a white beanie!
You may be surprised that I have some pieces that are older than a decade in my closet since I do donate things here and there, and some things cycle through my closet, but as I have gotten better at shopping items that I know I can style multiple ways and I have grown into owning my own style, I do have things that I love that are older. And you will have noticed throughout my blog that I refer to how else I styled something in the past. So this dress is here to stay even if I don’t wear it very often. I will say I was pleasantly surprised I still fit well it it!

That is a beautiful dress and I love that jacket. They pair wonderfully together. It would make a perfect Christmas eve church outfit.

I need to remember to pull it out since it is supposed to be fairly warm next week.

I would be happy to share some snow, LOL. I love the white shrug jacket. I honestly just want to reach out through the screen and touch it. I love this idea and how you created a twist to the theme. I can see why that dress has stood the test of time, it’s gorgeous. It fits you so well and looks classy but fun. I would be reaching for it many times in the spring/summer and it would be perfect for a wedding or a garden party or dinner out. That’s a keeper for sure.

GoshThe material is so beautiful and I adore it with that jacket and boots.
Truly, it’s one of those dresses that even if it doesn’t fit at some point.Someone who sews could take apart and use that material from the skirt to make something.

Oh, Mireille, your post title is perfect for this beautiful outfit! I think you’ve styled it for a sleigh ride in the snow though you’ll have to go north for that, I would imagine!

This is such a fun post! The combination is lovely. The work perfectly together. I think I have some very old pieces in my closet, but I’m not sure I could modernize them so well!! Nice job!
