Summer Plans
Well, the day has come, the school year is now officially over and 2 months of summer vacation looms ahead! While the boys and I love having a time with really fixed schedules, we do not function well with no directions or plans so we do have some plans for the summer even if they do not include any fun trips abroad. We will have days with structured plans but also days with nothing on the agenda. Summer Camps For the first time, every one will be involved in some type of camp for part of the summer. My oldest is doing a month long tennis camp, the 10 year…

My Favorite Ways to Exercise Right Now
For the past month and a half I have been trying to exercise most days of the week in some manner or form. While it has been more of a struggle the past 10 days as I have been dealing with stress and lack of desire to eat, I am glad to say I am still on the exercise wagon train (and now my regular appetite is back). I usually give up about a couple of weeks so today I wanted to share some things that have worked for me since I have been at it for 40 + days. My Trampoline/Rebounder A couple years ago, I picked up a…

May Favorite Outfits
May! Well, it has been a month! I am really looking forward to summer time, family time, and some outdoor time. The weather this month has been mild and even chilly at times so I have worn more pants than I usually do. I have had days that I have been inspired by color while others called for neutrals. Here are my 9 favorites! I wore my white sundress on Pascha (Orthodox Easter) which was the first Sunday of the Month this year. This brought the styling of this dress to 3 ways. I really liked it with this short sleeve jacket (I forgot I had) and my sparkly Steve…

Double Duty with the Ageless Style Link Up
Danael of Outside the Stacks came up with the theme for this month: double duty! I thought right away to a trick both Jodie (Jtouchofstyle) and Grace (Graceful Rags) have used: wearing a skirt as a top! I purchased a cute skirt at a consignment store last month and have worn it already a few times. I love the colors and the waist is smocked so it stretch and is really comfortable. The colors lend themselves to many colorful tops (aqua and peach come to mind but I decided to wear it with white. I added my rattan belt for some added definition at the waist and chose my new…

Old Navy Pixie Pants: I’m in Love!
A couple weeks ago, I stopped by Old Navy to return a jacket I bought in the wrong size for my youngest and a pair of wide leg pants I wanted to try. I decided to look at the clearance rack and saw this pair of high waisted pixie ankle pants in this striking floral print. Dressing rooms were open (wow, first store I have been in since Covid that has had open dressing rooms) so I decided to try them as well as a couple of other items. I wasn’t sure if they would work as they were in size 4 (I typically wear size 6) but Old Navy…

Lifelong Friendship: My Friend Veronique
You may have noticed my new water color header and logo! My talented friend Veronique approached me a week and a half ago as she has returned to one of the passions from her youth: drawing and asked me if I would like her to use one of my recent blog/Instagram pictures for a watercolor drawing. Of course, I responded in the affirmative and from there we created this header and logo picture! I am in awe of her talent and not only can she draw, she also sews. So I wanted to dedicate a blog post in honor of her and our friendship (by the way her birthday was…

Frankfort, KY: the State Capitol
My husband travels the Southeast of the United States and Kentucky used to me one of the states he traveled to regularly for work. When we decided to spend a day in Frankfort, visiting the state capitol was on top of our list. Unfortunately because of Covid, we couldn’t go inside (it looks really grandiose in pictures) but we were still able to walk the grounds which are very impressive too. The current building is the 4th permanent build since Kentucky became a state in 1792. The earlier state capitol building (1830) is still in downtown Frankfort. Because of the size of the new state capitol it could not be…

Adventures in Thrifting: April 2021
I have been trying to go thrifting every other month, preferably with my mom to find some unique pieces and just to have fun on a budget. This past month, I picked up my mom and we hit her local consignment store and a nearby St. Vincent de Paul thrift store. We have frequented both of these stores together twice. I found a few pieces in each store and was pleased with my purchases. Today, I am sharing the ones I shared on the #thriftchicstylechallenge on Instagram. Talbot Skirt I actually picked up the skirt on our November thrift trip but put it away for warmer weather. I love the…

Frankfort, Kentucky: Murals
When we took a day to visit Frankfort and the state capitol there, I did not expect to come accross a number of murals all in really close proximity. Once we saw one, I googgled the location of others and we walk to a few and found a couple more on the way out of town. While we enjoyed our walk, lunch in a parking lot (a lot of restaurants are still closed to indoor eating) with some rain, it was really kind of sad that a number of businesses had closed down due to the continued shutdown in the state especially here in Frankfort. This mural was near the…

Birthday Look: Happy Birthday, Ada!
For the past few years, Ada from Elegance and Mommyhood celebrate her birthday with a virtual birthday blog party! So today, I am sharing what I would wear were I to meet Ada for a birthday celebration whether it be at a restaurant, a backyard or home! Happy Birthday, Ada! I have enjoyed getting to know you this past year and collaborating on the occasional Thursday Moda and our monthly Sunday Showcase! I like an outfit that can work for different occasions and this comfortable look (I changed into it outdoors) fits the bill. I picked up this cute tank at Kohls when I returned an Amazon purchase and the…
