White for Mother’s Day: May Sunday Showcase and Link Up

This month for Mother’s Day and our May showcase, Ada and I are sharing some white sundress! While Ada had several white dress in her closet, I had only one that I pull out about once a year or so so I went searching for a new one or two. I found one while thrifting and this one while web searching. I think I will be wearing both several times this year and for years to come.   I just added two white dresses to my closet, a shorter halter neck thrifted dress and this flowy maxi sundress from Target. I really enjoy how fresh and bright white is and…

Versailles and the Arboretum in Lexington, KY

My husband has traveled through Kentucky for work and mentioned seeing a castle in Versailles which is really close to Lexington and just downt the road from Keeneland. We headed there and were pleasantly surprised by this fun castle which is a hotel and spa. One of my readers, Leslie shared the following link if you want to read about how this castle came about: https://myoldkentuckyroadtrip.com/2011/09/20/versailles-lexington-road-castle/ From the road you can see the castle and wonder what it is! I wasn’t sure if we would be able to walk around so we were able that we could. I was very impressed with the grounds and thought this would be a…

Mount Sterling, KY and Keeneland, KY

To take a break from hiking, we decided to find a small picturesque town to visit. Someone at the grocery store suggested Mount Sterling so we headed that way with a picnic packed. We did save money on this vacation by buying groceries and packing a picnic lunch every day. We shopped in a couple local boutiques, ate our lunch in a little square and took some pictures. Mount Sterling This outfit of the day was fairly comfortable until I realized that we were walking too much for these shoes. By the time we visited the arboretum, I took them off and walked barefoot! This town was pretty small so…

Kimono Dress 3 Ways Inspired by This Blonde Shopping Bag

Last year, I saw Shelly from The Queen In Between share a full length kimono paired with a pair of denim shorts (here is the post) and I have been wanting to find one since then. Then recently, KellyAnn from This Blonde Shopping Bag shared this dress as a kimono and dress and I was sold! The dress promptly sold out in blue but the linked color (wine color) was a better addition for my closet anyways. So on the day I wore the outfit , I decided I could come up with a couple more ideas to style the kimono. Denim shorts and Red Top This is my favorite…

Florals for Spring with Thursday Moda

Ada asked me to join her this month for one of her Thursday Moda link up posts and I gladly accepted. I also enjoy collaborating with others and having an excuse to dress up and take some pictures. I chose this pretty floral dress I picked up on clearance from Target last fall (style for fall here) and wore it to church where my son took these pictures. The bright blue and pink were what attracted me to the dress followed by the ruffles. I added my pink coral novas to pick up the pink from the dress and wore my Steve Madden sandals. There are some pretty knockoffs you…

Rock Bridge and Angel Wings Trails, Daniel Boone Forest, KY

Welcome back to my synopis of our spring break to Kentucky. On our second day, we planned two hikes. We were pleased with the 3 short ones we had done the first day so we choose a slighty longer one and decided to add another one before heading back to our rental. I chose the hikes by searching them on the internet, looking a distance and features such as arches. Once again, I packed lunch but we left it in the car to eat at a picnic table since we knew the hikes were not especially long. Rock Bridge Arch I chose this trail because it was a longer ones…

Inspired by Grace from Graceful Rags

I am getting so much inspiration from others lately as well as by my new clothes and our outings that I feel like I am running out of time to write my blog posts. I am scheduled out till the end of May I think! Anyhow, this is actually the first time I wore this dress in real life (I bought it this past February I think) and styled it for a post then. Today I am sharing it how I wore it on Saturday for a casual cool day and for church. This look was inspired by Grace from Graceful Rags. She shared an orange dress earlier in February…

Earth Tones with Ageless Style Link Up

This month theme was chose by Cammi from Cammi’s Happy Place Blog since we celebrate Earth day in April. And there is nothing better than hiking pictures to embody that theme so I took advantage of our vacation in Eastern Kentucky to shoot the pictures for this post since I had packed a light brown tunic tee. Daniel Boone National Forest is a great place to hike if you like short hikes with an amazing destination or view. Most hikes range from a 1/4 mile to 1 mile and end or pass a rock arch. Many also have “caves” or rock overhangs to explore. This was one of the longer…

Daniel Boone National Forest: Day 1 Hikes

One of my favorite things about our hikes at the Daniel Boone National Forest was that many were very short (less than a mile) and very scenic. The forest is renown for its many arches and on our first day there, we were able to see some pretty fantastic ones. These first two pictures were taken off the main road where a trail started. We did not take the trail but had to stop because the view of the ridge was amazing. Sky Bridge Trail Now this trail is 0.8 miles long and was special due to the crossing of the sky bridge which is wide but does not have…

    Hiking and Vacationing in Style

This Spring break vacation took us to the Red River Gorge area in Eastern Kentucky. I will be sharing our scenic hikes over the next few weeks, but today I wanted to share the outfits I wore on our hikes and outings. I did a great job packing this vacation as I wore everything but a pair of earrings. Shoes were important and I wore my hand me downs Timberland hiking boots when hiking and my cute shoes on our other outings. The weather turned out gorgeous apart from our last day so I was able to do without layers. Peach My goal this spring and summer is to add…
