    January Outfits

This month of January, I have made an effort to shop my closet and refrain from spending so each of the pieces have been worn in some manner in the past. I did try to create new looks with them which gives me the illusion of having a new wardrobe! Loving this “leather” jacket from my sister in law. My wedge sneakers were worth every penny. An outfit from all kinds of sources: Walmart sneakers, thrifted sweatshirt, Nordstrom jeans and scarf. I am not a shopping snob. This was a new combo for me! I really like it! Both the blouse and the olive jacket are a little large. But…

    My closet: then and now

In the past month, I have been in a purging mode even more than usual. In an attempt to curb my shopping, I am shopping my closet. I have realized over the past year that less is oftentimes more. Having an organized, uncluttered closet allows you to see what you have. I am very lucky to have a large walk in closet that I do not have to share. It is large enough that I do not use all of the hanging space. I wanted to share some pictures of what my closet looked like in March of last year in an earlier post called Finding Inspiration for Outfits. My…

    Get dressed formula

How does an outfit come together? My thought process usually starts with one item. Sometimes I want to wear a particular pair of earrings, or a top or a pair of shoes. I like to create different outfits and while I sometimes repeat a particular outfit, since I take a picture of my daily outfit for my Instagram feed, I really try to be creative and at least change something. Here is an example: I love the combo of the striped shirt with the vest but I created a new look by changing the shoes and the earrings. Today I am sharing the process for one of my weekend outfits.…

    Nativity Outfit

I do not typically buy the same piece of clothing in different colors apart from very basic pieces so as tanks, layering tees long and short sleeves. However, when my sister in law gave me two identical dresses in black and in purple, I knew that them being the same was not going to bore me but would give me even more incentive to wear them and style them in different ways. Last week, I wore the black version of this Calvin Klein dress with a red peacoat jacket, a blanket scarf and caramel boots. This past Tuesday, I wore the purple dress but with different toppers and accessories, totally…

    Sunday’s Best

This Sunday, I was very excited to wear one of my new dresses that my sister in law handed down to me a couple weeks ago. The dress was still new with tags and was a Calvin Klein dress she found at TJmaxx. It skims the body without being too form fitting and the knee length is appropriate for church. I paired it with my Nickel and Suede saffron earrings, an old Target blanket scarf (cut in 2 for less weight and bulk) and my really old caramel boots I just don’t think I can part with yet. I love that the sleeves are 3/4 so the bell shape is…

    2020: Shopping with a purpose

I would lie if I said I would not buy anything new in 2020 apart from thrifting. While I will probably go thrifting every other month, I do have a short list of items that I would like to purchase this coming year. How to decide what I need or want? Since I do not have an overflowing closet and I am constantly reassessing my closet, I have a good idea of what I am lacking or would lack to replace: skirts: I would like to wear skirts more and most of my skirts are maxis. Right now maxis are not calling my name much and while I will keep…

    My Christmas Outfit

This year my sis in law is hosting Christmas at her house as we have done it most years in the past. It is brunch style food and I will be making some crepes, some peanut butter chocolate bars and a pineapple pie. It is a relaxed atmosphere, enjoying each other’s company, food and kids opening presents. I usually end up getting hot in the house and the forecast temperature is a high of 68 so my Christmas outfit reflects the weather and laid back atmosphere. Since I don’t have any green or red tops, I went for a silver/grey theme for top to bottom. I am wearing an old…

    December outfits

Today I wanted to share some of the outfits I have worn so far this month. After going a little crazy in November buying 4 to 5 sweaters and a few other items including my full price jeans (crazy by my thrifty standards), I decided to slow down knowing that I need to buy gifts for Christmas and wanting to get back to saving! I always underestimate how much I spend at Christmas and might write a recap about that spending later this week or next but today is the day for “Shop Mireille’s closet” in December. The only item purchased this month (and I will be strong and not…

    Beach vacation outfits

Well, we are back from our vacation at the beach! We had a wonderful time at the beach and I will be sharing a couple of our excursions over the next couple of Wednesdays. Please keep my nephew’s healing in your prayers as we had a little incident near the end of our trip. We ended up adding a day to our trip to be near the hospital and visit him there before returning home. We divided our time at the beach between playing on the beach and going on a few outings. I had planned for a relaxed wardrobe consisting of mostly light sweatshirts and some layers for early…

    October Looks: Part 2

So this past week, I went to Old Navy to pick up a vest I had ordered online (it saved me shipping, and an extra $5 with the discount code) since it was on the way back for the pediatrician. Having just written the first part of this post and realizing that I have so many cute clothes and so many more new outifts to combine then into, I did not even browse in the store and walked out with just my vest! Granted I was with the 2 year old and shopping with him would not have been the most fun experience but I was pleased that I was…
