Last week, before the time change, my teen and I decided to take a quick walk down the hill to our neighborhood. I finally managed to take a walk before the sunset by the cotton fields. The fields finally bloomed (much later this year) and I pass them everyday wanting to capture some of the beauty. The fields look really cool when it is foggy, at sunset and early morning. It really looks like snow from afar. I am grateful everyday for where we live and how we get a touch of country life as we drive to school. On the way to my parents, we pass this farm. Finally after 3 years of passing it by we planned a few hours of fun this fall. The first thing that caught my eye when driving by was the sunflower field so I looked up the activities there online since I saw a sign for a corn maze. I didn’t plan much for my little anniversary getaway with my husband a couple of weeks ago. I knew I wanted to have an overnight trip without children, something in the mountains and thought that ziplining would be fun as it was right there at Amicalola Falls. I did not book ahead of time as they have a no refund policy but knowing that we would do it on a Monday, I figured there would be some spaces available that day. Last week, my brother and I visited the nearby Indian Mounds and I couldn’t believe the number and variety of mushrooms we saw. I started taking pictures and then decided it would be fun to share those pictures. I used my google feature to identify the mushrooms so hopefully it is fairly accurate. These are Lepiota, a gilled ground dwelling saprotrophs that enjoy rich, calcareous soils. Here is another shot of them.
