Rock Garden, Calhoun, GA
Taking advantage of free activities or outings in your area or state is a good way to enjoy family time when you are on a budget. You can hike, go to the park, enjoy free festivals or find special places to discover. A friend of mine often shares places she would like to visit in Georgia on her Facebook page. I often screenshot those places so I can refer to them when we do not know what to do. A couple weekends ago, we had about an hour of free time after church before my son soccer little shoot out competition. I remembered reading about a rock garden in Calhoun,…

Visiting Rome, GA
Visiting one’s backyard can be provide an afternoon of fun for little or no money. After celebrating my father’s 80th birthday in Rome, GA, we spent a couple of hours walking around town. Rome is built where the Etowah and the Oostanaula rivers meet forming the Coosa River. It is also built on seven hills which inspired the settlers to name it Rome. While still a small city (36,000+ in 2017), Rome has a number of historical places to visit, a cute downtown area and nicely developed area to walk by the river and hosts Berry College which has a beautiful campus. I will share pictures of the campus on…

Thanksgiving outfit
Just the other day, I pulled out my burgundy waterfall cardigan for my daily outfit and it inspired me to create a Thanksgiving look. I always like to dress up a little for the holidays even if we do not go to parties or have fancy dress occasions. So I took the same jeans and cardigan and made a few changes to elevate the look. The first look was what I wore for a day running a couple errands and doing some organization at the house. We will be going to the beach the week of Thanksgiving as we did last year and most likely we will return to GTs…

Friday Ramblings
Today, I am sharing a mish mash of some of my recent thoughts. Budget by Paycheck Workbook My friend tuned me in to the Budget Mom when she tagged me in a giveaway and I am hooked! I always have enjoyed working with my budget to find ways to save but go back and forth with really keeping track of where my money goes. The workbook/planner helps you budget by your paycheck whether that is once a week, biweekly or monthly. By keeping track of where your money goes, you can make adjustements to your categories, assign money to savings or to your debt. Thankfully the only debt we have…

Southeastern cowboy festival
A couple weekends ago, I realized that our local Western museum was holding a Southeastern Cowboy festival. The timing was not the best with a busy weekend full of birthday celebration and rain but I thought we could escape and enjoy it for a couple of hours. Since we arrived at the end of the day less than 2 hours before closing, the lady gave us a discount which was appreciated on our part. What we did There was an area set up for children with a bouncy house, a petting zoo and a bubble area. I asked about the secret bubble solution since it made awesome bubble but the…

October Looks: Part 2
So this past week, I went to Old Navy to pick up a vest I had ordered online (it saved me shipping, and an extra $5 with the discount code) since it was on the way back for the pediatrician. Having just written the first part of this post and realizing that I have so many cute clothes and so many more new outifts to combine then into, I did not even browse in the store and walked out with just my vest! Granted I was with the 2 year old and shopping with him would not have been the most fun experience but I was pleased that I was…

October Looks: Part 1
I love writing these posts! Once again as I looked through all of these outfits, I was reminded that yes! I have quite a variety of clothes and shopping is not necessary so I need to be smart in my purchases! This post is heavy on photos so divided it between today and Monday and hopefully it will inspire you to some new combinations using what you already have on hand in your closet! The first part of October was warm or should I say hot with temperatures still in the 90s. Therefore the first few outfits in the month involved shorts! All of the items in this outfit were…

Fun on the lake
The last activity on our weekend in Alabama was an outing on the lake. My husband’s uncle owns a pontoon boat and usually takes us on the lake at least once. The littlest pretended to drive while we were still at the dock. And my oldest got to drive for quite a while, slowy than faster as well as make turns. He really enjoyed himself. Once we leave the dock the 3 youngest always wear their life vests which makes them and us feel much more comfortable about letting them walk on the boat. Here, my 8 year old is pretending to be a tour guide. All the boys always…

Capsule wardrobe: floral skirt
[et_pb_section admin_label=”section”] [et_pb_row admin_label=”row”] [et_pb_column type=”4_4″] [et_pb_text admin_label=”Text”] So in this part two of my capsule wardrobe, I am sharing outfits with my number 1 skirt, my yellow floral skirt! I think that this skirt can transcends the seasons thanks to the colors of the flowers with the burgundies, purples and dark greens. Since I was limited on time this past week and weekend with many appointments and a very busy weekend, I am using pictures from my prior post dedicated to this skirt as well as some pictures I was able to take on Sunday. Purple tee and booties Using a darker color on top helps transition a look…

Friday Favorites
Well, after about 30 days of no shopping, Amazon called my name and I purchased two sweaters this week. I have been bookmarking different sweaters and cardigans in my Amazon shopping cart this past month to purchase in November since that is what I could use more in my closet. I am trying to be more thoughful with my purchases and not buying just to buy. What will I wear? What is a good value? While we just paid off my van, I had to replace the windshield this week and next week, I need to replace the brakes so I need to watch the 1 click feature on Amazon.…
