Sunsets
This post will not be wordy. I am letting the pictures speak for themselves and sharing my sons’ sunset poems. We have been blessed these past months with great weather, outside time and the opportunity to spend a weekend at the lake. These pictures were taken one evening at the lake courtesy of my son. The sun sets as the moon rises, bringing upon us an era anew with surprises. As dusk is brought upon by the coming of night, the stars start twinkling shedding their light. M (13) In summer, sunsets are late And you have to stay awake. In winter, you can just look up And see the…

Silver Comet Trail Bike Ride
“The Silver Comet Trail is 61.5 miles long, and starts at the Mavell Road Trailhead in Smyrna, Georgia. It ends at the Georgia/Alabama state line, near Cedartown and The Esom Hill Trailhead. At the Georgia/Alabama state line, the Silver Comet connects to the 33-mile long Chief Ladiga Trail. Both the Silver Comet Trail and Chief Ladiga are fully paved rail-trails built on abandoned railroad lines. The combined Silver Comet and Chief Ladiga trail length is estimated to be 94.5 paved miles from Smyrna, Georgia to Anniston, Alabama. ” (from the Silver Comet Trail Official Website) For the past year or so, I have been wanting to walk or ride part of the Silver…

Inspired by Jess at Elegantly Dressed and Stylish
What to do when you need inspiration for a blog post? Turn to your fellow bloggers and take inspiration from them. When I came accross this look of Jess, my first thought was: oh, I can totally copy this outfit! Jess always looks stylish whether she is wearing one of her many skirts or dresses or whether she is rocking a jean and graphic tee look. I really love it when I can replicate someone’s outfit by shopping my closet and not succumbing to the shopping bug. I had grandiose ideas of really reducing my clothes shopping this year and while I do not regret any of my purchases (I…

Summer Free Fun
Last week, the boys and I sat down and looked at some pins I had saved on Pinterest over the years to find some things we might have fun doing this summer. I am still hoping to visit my new baby niece (close to DC) this summer but we probably won’t go unless things open up more. We would like to take advantage of being in that part of the country to visit Washington DC so we may wait till the fall. Until our visit, we will enjoy pictures and videos of her as she is a cutie. But while we are home for probably most if not all of…

Weekend at the Lake
This past weekend was the first time that we traveled since Martin Luther King’s long weekend. I have gone on errands, we have gone to state parks and places to hike but we have slept home every night for the past 4 months. So heading to our uncle’s lake house was something we looked forward to after we planned it a couple of weeks ago. The house sits on a lake in Alabama and is a 2 hour drive from our house. We always bring food with us to help with meals and try to clean up after ourselves so we don’t have things laying around while we are there.…

Favorite April and May Looks
What constitutes a favorite look? Something new and unexpected shopped mostly from my closet, something I felt good in and looked good in pictures too (one doesn’t always translates into the other, lol). Color for some days and neutrals for others, variety I think for me is the key. I like to come up with new outfits either by looking at my closet or by finding inspiration from another blogger. Today, I am taking a look back at my favorite outfits from the last two months. I featured these white beach pants in the last couple of posts and this shows you again how versatile they are. I really prefer…

Friday Favorites
While I haven’t shopped for clothes for a couple of weeks apart from updating one of my bathing suit, but I have been working on updating some things in my kitchen. I am constantly reevaluating which tools I use, how I am organizing things and how my cleaning works for me or not. Well the cleaning was not very exciting and here is where my first favorite comes in. Mrs Meyer’s Multipurpose Spray I bought a 3 pack on Amazon but I do not see it it there right now but am linking the Lemon Verbana scent that you can find at Target. I wanted a 3 pack in case…

Creating Habits in Children
My kids don’t like to hike! My kids won’t play outside! My kids never play board games! Many a time, I have heard parents make that statement about their children when I share what we do. Yes, my children do grumble sometimes when I announce a hike or they whine when I tell them that it is time to play outside. They do not always jump at the chance to play board games with me. However they usually do all of these things and they enjoy them. How have we arrived at that point? By creating habits and expectations. Start Young! Do not wait till your children are 5 or…

2 more Pinterest Inspired White Beach Pants Looks
Big thanks to my son for taking my pictures on Sunday! I wanted to write this post as a follow up to last Monday’s which meant taking pictures on Sunday and it was really sunny. So we took to the front of our house for our pictures to find some decent shade and backgrounds. No fun outing since we were still recouping from our 3 hours on the river on Saturday. You wouldn’t think that floating down the river would be exhausting but even with hats, the sun sure was beating on us. We did have a great time though and added two 1 person rafts to our arsenal so…

Chicken Drumsticks Recipe
We have several recipes that are go to recipes when we have family or friends over. One of these recipes is our BBQ drumsticks. These are best grilled on the grill but you can also bake them.
