White for Fall with the Sunday Showcase
,A couple weeks ago, I met up with my friend Rachel (The Faux French Girl) in Chattanooga at Renaissance Park for a picnic and blog pictures. I typically use my phone for pictures so it was a treat to have someone take pictures with a real camera. A big thank you for these pictures! I have been so impressed with the beautiful parks in Chattanooga by the river that plan to bring the boys back up in December. It has felt so busy lately and I am looking forward to the school breaks coming up. I do not wear my white jeans in the summer as it is too hot. …

Inspired by Nancy and Monochromatic Black
In the past, Nancy (NancysFashionStyle) inspired me to wear a monochromatic black outfit which I shared in this post. Today’s first outfit was inspired by a recent blog post she shared with a pair of satin trousers and a sheer top. It was all black and bookended by fun gold boots. I immediately thought of my velvet joggers and decided it would be fun to recreate that outfit (see more about her outfit here). My second outfit started with a column of black but I chose an accent color to wear with it. Inspired by Nancy I liked the idea of wearing textured pants and these soft velvet joggers I…

Dress Up your Blazer with a Skirt
A few weeks ago, I shared a thrifted blazer my friend Jodie found for me with two types of denim in casual outfits in this post. Today, I am sharing another thrifted blazer that I found at Goodwill on the same day (as she had inspired me to look on my own!). This blazer is in a similar cut, fitted and cropped but in a nice purple color without a collar. I decided to dress up this blazer by creating two outfits with skirts and once again I wanted to incorporate some print mixing which I did in the second outfit. Blazer with Midi Skirt I typically shoot outfits at…

What to Wear to a Fall Event with the Ageless Style Link Up
October’s theme was chosen by Cathy from My Side of 50 and was great theme where we could use our imagination: what to wear to a fall event. As a family, in the fall we enjoy going to festivals, apple orchards and pumpkin patches. Some years, we do all three, others none. This year, we have been busy with sports on the weekend so I am not sure we will have time to include any such activity. We are hoping to go to the apple orchard before the season ends though! For today’s pictures, my oldest and I went to a nearby cotton field, just a few minutes from the…

September Thrifted Finds: Adding Interesting pieces to your closet
I was so happy to find some really fun pieces while thrifting this past month. These were found on a shopping trip in Chattanooga, TN with my friend Rachel from @thefauxfrenchgirl. My goal is no new clothes till the end of the year and I will have a budget of $50 for thrifting for each month through December. If you are on a budget, shopping second hand is a great way to add interesting pieces to your closet. Popover Top We visited 2 stores, America’s Thrift store and the Northside Neighborhood House Thrift Store. I found this cute top and suede purse at NNHT which had a nice smaller shop…

How to Wear Denim and Camo
Like the question about what shoes to pair with a denim dress, the answer of how to wear denim and camo together is to just do it any way you like it! You could wear denim on top and camo on the bottom or do the opposite. I always think of camo as a neutral (it really pairs well with florals and with stripes) as long as it is done tastefully. Today I am sharing two looks with the denim shirt dress which I won in a giveaway last month and shared it in this blog post recently. Denim Duster with Camo We took these pictures on a bright morning…

Non Jacket Fall Layers with the Sunday Showcase Link Up
Ideas for blog posts come to me in different ways and this one came from making a reel for the #wearitwednesday gals a couple weeks ago about skirts. It also happened on a day where the morning was really cool at 53 degrees and a light layer was needed for a couple of hours. Everyone knows to add a denim jacket to make a outfit fall worthy but what about other toppers? I looked at my closet and pulled out 4 pieces I thought would provide interest and a little warmth for cool but not cold fall days and here are my non jacket fall layers. Here is my original…

How to Style Your Blazer for a Casual Look
This year, I realized that despite all of my lightweight jackets (and I have quite a few), I didn’t have a single blazer. Jodie, one of the most creative bloggers I know, suggested to search for one while thrifting and inspired by her, I did find one that I will style next month. On her hand, she searched for one t0o and found this adorable polka dotted one. You should have seen us exchanging texts and pictures as I was running with running club. Not exactly conducive to texting and looking at pictures but that was when she was in store at Goodwill in Arizona! Today, we are both once…

Styling One Dress 6 Ways For Fall
It had been a while since I wrote one of these posts showing you how to wear one item several ways. I really had fun this go around with this thrifted Banana Republic dress! Styling this dress 6 ways for fall was a fun exercise! I wasn’t sure it would fit me when I tried it on but like Jodie says, when thrifted do not pay attention to size and just try it on! I am glad I did as I love the print and color and how versatile this dress will be pretty much year round. Short Blazer for Warmer Weather This is how I wore it to church…

How to Make a Fancy Dress more Casual
I shared this dress earlier this month for my birthday post. When I bought it I thought of it only as a special occasion dress but then I started to think about as any of my other dress. Is it dressy and colorful? Yes it is, but that does not mean it can only be worn for that occasion. Wearing this dress from I’ll Have What She is Wearing to church and the botanical gardens shows you that a dress can really be for any occasion. Here are the steps I took to tone it down and make your fancy dress more casual: Making My Dress Casual with Sneakers Adding…
