My Jambu shoes experience
This post is not a sponsored post and all the opinions are mine. Why Jambu shoes? Every time that we plan a trip abroad, my first concern is what shoes will I bring on the trip? Typically a trip abroad equals lots of walking for our family. That walking might be walking through cobbled streets, hiking up a mountain or dipping our toes in a lake, river or ocean. I always make a point to read fellow bloggers’ posts about comfortable shoes. Both Jodie from Jtouchofstyle and Jess from Elegantlydressedandstyish posted about Jambu shoes within a month of each other. I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a pair of…

Cardigan wrap, 4 ways
Today I am sharing a cardigan wrap my best friend Veronique from Jolikrea made me as an early birthday gift while I visited her in France. I am always amazed and impressed with how talented she and other seamstresses are! I can barely sew a button! Here she is at work, sewing the hem. She chose this cool light fabric knowing that we live in the south so I could have more use of the cardigan. It was fascinating to see how fast she was able to sew this. She cut the fabric the previous day and I sat while she sewed the hem and sleeves. The cardigan can be…

What I wore in Spain and France
Since I have started writing this blog, I have been paying more attention to what people wear. I was somewhat surprised to find that in my opinion people were more fashionable in Spain than in France. That might be because of where in Spain and France we were. We were in a nice hotel in Spain and visited pretty coastal towns where there were tourists from France and different part of Spain. In France we were in smaller towns/villages and I did notice more stylish clothes in Paris. I only saw white pants in touristy places a handful of time and never wore the pair I brought. Everything else I…

Birmingham Botanical Gardens Part 1
A few weeks ago, the boys and I went to Birmingham for my Goddaughter’s high school graduation party. We had a couple hours of free time between church and the party and I remembered that the Birmingham Botanical Gardens were free. It had been a few years since my last visit and I figured that it being spring would be a great time for a visit. I lived in Birmimgham for 6 years prior to getting married and used to visit occasionnally. My outfit Hat: Lanzom wide brim straw Panama hat (Amazon) Tee: Amazon essentials (Amazon) Skirt : Goodwill thrifted Wedge sandals (old, Payless) Purse: Handmade Round Ata Rattan Bag…

Wearing shorts after 40
This is a subject that many fashion bloggers discuss and every one is going to have an opinion. Like many I think the issue of wearing shorts as one gets older has to do with fit first and foremost, then comfort and modesty. I wear shorts most days of the week during the summer as our activities include outdoor outings (and it gets hot and humid here in the South), the pool and hanging out with the kids. Most of my shorts are either 4 or 5 inches long with a pair of burmuda shorts thrown in there. I think that shorts can look classy and appropriate as long as…

My Nickel and Suede Wishlist
This summer I am hoping to make a stop at the Nickel and Suede store front In Liberty, Missouri. I stopped by last year when I visited two friends who live in towns nearby. It was only a 15 minutes drive from one friend so I knew I had to go shop even though I can shop anytime online. The store is very lovely, off the square and it just is nice to have the experience of shopping in person, comparing earrings on my ears. These are the 3 pairs of earrings I would like to purchase on this trip: I may change my mind once I get there and…

My thrift store May outing
Last week, I decided to head to Goodwill for a little shopping spree. My goal was to find some items to complete my wardrobe: printed pants, anything camo, skirt or dress and graphic tees. This is the only Goodwill and thrift store in town. Goodwill is actually not my favorite thrift store because I find it to be expensive so I made sure to be selective. Thankfully I was able to shop without any children which made the experience more enjoyable. I browsed down the aisles and picked up items that I found interesting. Sadly there were no camo! And sadly since I am not imposing a spending freeze till…

#thriftedchicstylechallenge outfits, May
This was my second time participating in the thriftedchicstylechallenge and it is always fun to create outfits from my thrift store finds. This was a shorter challenge so I have 3 outfits to share. And I would like to thank the ladies who host the challenge for choosing me as the winner of the May challenge! Outfit #1 I wasn’t sure about this tank top when I purchased it but I really like the material and the pattern. Turns out it is very comfortable and it can be worn with a variety of bottoms. This day I paired it with a thrifted pair of cropped wide leg jeans and my…

What a scarf can do!
A couple weeks ago, on a cooler spring day we decided to spend a day window shopping downtown before having lunch and hiking. Since I knew where we were hiking, I decided I wanted to wear my hiking boots. The cooler weather warranted my leggings and long sleeve tunic. But I wanted to make the outfit cuter and more dressy for walking around town so I added a scarf. The scarf adds a splash of color and the spring colors and tassels brings the outfit up a notch. I have been wanting to take pictures in front of this mural for a while now so while we waited for my…
