Inspired by I Do DeClaire and Doused in Pink

I actually had planned to copy one of Jodie’s (from Jtouch of Style) outifts this month but after seeing Laura’s copycat outfit of Jill’s (Doused in Pink) here, I decided to use this one for February. Now that the pictures are taken and I am home, I realize I could have chosen a pair of black booties and leggings and unzipped my jacket to make it a closer copy. It also would have been more flattering. However, I am pleased with my outfit: that is what finding inspiration from others is all about: taking someone’s outfit and making it your own. I actually bought this skirt on Amazon last year…

    February Friday Favorites

I really should write notes on my phone if no paper is available when I have an idea. Here I am in front of my computer writing my post for tomorrow and I have no idea which Friday Favorites I will share wih you today! I am very grateful that Georgia was not hit by the cold front and am keeping everyone in Texas in my prayers. I actually have friends whom I didn’t realize had just moved there but thankfully nothing major has happened to their house. We always wish for snow but our infracture in the south is not prepared for it nor do we know how to…

Sparkle and Shine with the Ageless Style Link Up

Welcome to the Ageless Style link up which will be held on the 3rd Thursday of each month. This month’s theme is brought to you by Carrie at A Stylish Fit. When I heard the theme, I first thought of a grey short sleeve dolman top I had that has silvery thread through it (see it here) but I wanted something that would be more weather appropriate for the winter. I made it my mission to find something sparkly on my early February trip to Goodwill and lo and behold I can across a pretty shiny and sparkly silver tunic. Thankfully, I was able to try the tops on over…

Create 28 Challenge Outfits (Week 1 and 2)

This February, I decided to join in with Carrie from A Stylish Fit with her create 28 winter challenge. The challenge has a daily prompt and encourages you to take another look at your closet to create new combinations. I really appreciate that the prompts are simple and broad! It was easy for me to come up with outfits and I think they were all new combinations. I cheated a little and went shopping on the 2nd of the month at Goodwill and scored 9 tops for $40. So I am shopping my closet with the addition fo my thrift finds. Here are some of my favorites from the first…

Playing with your Toddler: Finding the Balance

The more you have children the more you learn, the more you change and do things differently. With my 4th child being now 3 years old, I am trying to find a balance with his independent play and time with me playing with him. I definitely have become more relaxed with the amount of tv he watches as it gives me some me time and the amount of time he spends on his tablet too. So everyday, I spend some time playing with him but also try to get him to play by himself. Today, I am sharing some games that we play together and some things he likes to…

Finding Beauty in Small Things in Nature

While we do not have the cold and ice from up North, it has gotten fairly cold here for us in Georgia with most day temps averaging between 30 and 45 degrees. Lows do get in the 20s and high sometimes get in the 50s but add some wind to the weather and it can get downright cold. After a January with very inconsistent walking, I vowed last week to do better with getting out there and walking and hopefully back to running regularly. I did have some issue with my right shin after my first run last week so I am going to be careful and watch it with…

February Sunday Showcase: Red and Pink for Valentine’s

For this February Sunday Showcase, Ada and I are showing you a contrast in weather and how we can wear accessories red and pink in winter but in ways that work for where we live. We both love red and I really am a little jealous of some of her red accessories. This year, I have been looking at which colors are missing in my closet and keeping an eye out for them in stores. Don’t forget to stop by Ada’s blog post to see more of her pink and red layers! A Dressy Look When Ada suggested a red and a pink look for the February showcase, I decided…

My New Craft Cabinet: Organizing my Home

My favorite floor is our house is our first floor: when we moved to our house 3 years ago, we decided to use our old couch in the media/game room upstairs and we sold our dining table. That meant we were buying some new furniture, furniture we chose as a couple versus using hand me down from our family or when we were single. We love our farmhouse table (which we found on Craigslist), our little buffet tables that we found at a local shop and our leather couch which gives a nice contrast to that furniture. My husband made a set of barndoors for his mom’s room so everything…

    Cooking as a Hobby

Do you enjoy spending time in the kitchen? For me, it comes and goes. Sometimes, I wish I didn’t have to cook while other times, I get in a cooking mode and try new recipes several times in the same week. So one night you may see us eat hot dogs, box mac and cheese and steamed broccoli while another night may look like the pictures below: quiche, tomato soup and Boston Butt! I always have had a love/hate relationship with baking too so I choose recipes that are simple and quick. I enjoy cooking more when nobody is in the kitchen aka everyone is entertained somewhere else and when…

    Shopping on a Budget: Thrifting

I only went thrifting once or possibly twice in 2020. I plan to remedy that this year and hope to make it a monthly outing with my mom. There is a nice consignment store in her small town where I always find something as well as a St Vincent de Paul thrift store that surprised me with a few fun finds in November. I was disappointed to see that it was closed the day we went because of possible COVID exposure so I plan to stop by next month. I think the thing that I enjoy the most from shopping second hand is finding some items that you do not…
