Skirts for a Week: Shopping my Closet
Last month, at the beginning of July, I decided to wear skirts that had been forsaken in the depths of my closet. Well, maybe they had not been forsaken, but I hadn’t really worn skirts much of June and July, focusing instead on dresses and shorts. I concentrated on wearing my favorite skirts and realized that just as dresses, they are really comfortable in the summer.
This skirt was actually a new buy from a store called Gabe’s which I did not realized was in our little town until my sister in law pointed it out when visiting. It is similar to Ross and TJ Maxx and while I only bought this skirt I was impressed with the name brands and the prices. The skirt was $7.99 and I know I will wear it a lot.
An old thrifted BHWM skirt, I have usually paired it with black so a white graphic tee and sneakers were a fun twist on my usual outfits with it. I used Jodie’s (Jtouchofstyle) trick of making a knot under the tee with an elastic to create a different look.
A cute flirty little Amazon skirt got lots of compliments on Instagram. I have two of these skirts and haven’t worn them much lately. I usually pair it with black so I should come up with something different!
A simple black skirt (this one is has an elastic waistband and is a pencil skirt) is so versatile! Since this was close to the 4th, I chose a red tie dye top. My favorite sandals are my colorful ones!
I had not worn my Modcloth skirt in a year! This has been a favorite readers’ skirt since I shared it two years ago. The print, the cut, the pockets: it is so fun and is great to twirl around. Subtle print mixing with the striped tee but not new: I have paired this top with it before. Here are a few posts with the skirt:
Despite saying I wouldn’t shop, I couldn’t resist this maxi skirt when I stopped by a consigment store! Look at those colors! For $4.99, and second hand, I didn’t feel too much guilt. Not too in love with my tank with it, I like it better as a layer but I need something like a bodysuit (the one white one I tried, the material showed too much and was not opaque enough).
I picked this little fun skirt the same day and after seeing Distinctly Southern Style pair hers with white boho top, I copied the idea and came up with this! Very summery!
Last but not least, an old thrifted Talbot skirt, I really love the colors in this one and the little whale are really cute. Maybe I will pair it with navy next!
I think I did well picking some of my forgotten skirts and I enjoyed the challenge. I will probably do this again in the fall hopefull joining IsThisMutton with another skirt challenge like last year!
A bientôt!

Wow, Mireille, you have a wonderful collection of skirts and they’re all great! I particularly like the flirty Amazon one which is very pretty and yes, the Modcloth one is lovely and it’s yellow, my favourite colour!

I applaud you for pulling out all the fun skirts Mireille!! (and thanks for the shoutout for the elastic trick…it’s a good one).
It’s funny how we get into habits with what we wear day to day, and I love the idea of switching it up!!
That colorful leopard one is definitely a keeper and I bet that would be a good one to mix with stripes too!!

Love these skirt outfits, especially ones with the graphic T and sneakers. This is a look I have not gotten right yet so I enjoyed seeing your versions. (And the perfectly coordinating pinks in the first outfit made by matchy-matchy heart go pitterpat!)

With graphic tees, I usually have to figure out proportions: sometimes I need to tuck in or knot for it to look best.

That is a fun challenge! You have a lot of great skirts! I can see why you received so many compliments on your pink leopard one. It’s adorable on you!

These are all such pretty skirts! I really liek that dneim skirt with the pink tee, even though you know I love the other skirts you have too, especially that yellow floral one 🙂 I got a denim skirt from my sister’s wardrobe clear out and I’m so excited to give it a wear – just waiting on some warmer weather, as it’s winter right now and my knee injury means I can’t wear my usual winter go to of tights and ankle boots, haha!
Thanks for joining the #WeekdayWearLinkup! Hope you are having a good weekend 🙂

Is your knee getting any better? I have a few more I want to wear this month. Not shopping (or barely shopping) has been good for me!

These are all such fun summer outfits! I really like the pink leopard print Amazon skirt! So cute and sassy! And the red tie dye tee with black skirt is something I would wear in a heartbeat. I also am loving your fun photos! I just said to my husband the other day that I want to scope out some yard sales for photo props like a cute wooden bar stool to sit on! I love the idea of indoor furniture for outdoor photos! Thanks for sharing and linking with me, my friend!

I have an idea for our Fab 40s pictures using all the different seating we have outside. Hopefully it will work out nicely.
