The Rain Brings out the Mushrooms

Last week, my brother and I visited the nearby Indian Mounds and I couldn’t believe the number and variety of mushrooms we saw. I started taking pictures and then decided it would be fun to share those pictures. I used my google feature to identify the mushrooms so hopefully it is fairly accurate. These are Lepiota, a gilled ground dwelling saprotrophs that enjoy rich, calcareous soils. Here is another shot of them. It was interesting to me to see where the mushrooms chose to propagate as there were some species at the base of trees, some in piles of mulch. and of course in the middle of decomposing piles of…

Fab 40s: Inspired by Candy Crush

So this month, it was my turn to chose the theme for our Fab 40s group! The Fab 40s is is a group of five fashion bloggers from around the globe. Each month we choose a different theme with the goal of taking on style trends and showing how we each interpret and incorporate them into our own lives. A Few of my Favorite August Looks

Today I am sharing a few of my favorite outfits that I wore this past month. If you follow me on Instagram you will have seen most of these or will see the rest of them next week. I am a little behind with sharing my daily outfits as I share my blog post outfits too! I have worn less dresses this month apart from church days and I have been drawn to my pants on days I know I will not be outdoors. Pants I am missing my pants! So I pull them out every once in a while even though it is still the middle of summer weather!…

    Booth Western Art Museum

On Monday, I share an outfit that was inspired by my cowboy boots and Pinterest and since it was the end of summer, I decided that the perfect location and outing for me and the boys would be the Booth Western Art Museum. We have visited several times but still enjoy the couryard with the large sculptures, the museum with the visiting exhibits as well as the permanent ones. Anytime I visit an art museum, I am just in awe of the talented artists! Whether is is clay work, wood art, paintings, any media from used has my appreciation! The museum’s permanent collections include a presidential gallery, a cowboy gallery…

Inspired by Pinterest and a Pair of Cowboy Boots

I was reading a post by Grace (Graceful Rags) and KellyAnn (This Blonde Shopping Bag) about wearing your clothes and getting inspiration from Pinterest and I decided that my cowboy boots needed a spin! I looked through my pins and picked one that I could recreate fairly easily by shopping my closet. I was actually tempted to buy a brown tank but that would have defeated the purpose of this exercise. I have been wearing all of the things in my closet and making sure to pull some things that I haven’t worn much in the last years. I love my cowboy boots, they were my most expensive clothing purchase…

Back to School with the Ageless Style Link Up

This month theme is back to school styles and I thought I would share an everyday look I would wear for school pick up! I usually am ready and dressed for morning school drop but as I have gotten used to sleeping in some this summer, I am not sure it will take me to get back into that routine. School for us started on August 11 and while I am excited to be on a schedule again, I am going to miss the laid back atmosphere we had around the house this summer. I decided to share this pair of Chico’s wide legged cropped jeans and at 5’4″ they…

A Visit to the Georgia Aquarium

The week before the boys went back to school, we decided to have a couple of day adventures so the day following our trip to the Atlanta Zoo, we went to the Georgia Aquarium. It had been several years since our last visit so we were excited to go back. Admission is $36.95 for ages 3 and up but it does include the different shows and 4D theater. I originally just bought our tickets (with timed entry) but while we were there I decided to go ahead and get the family year membership since I figured I could take my brother and family as well as at least go a…

Inspired by the Grey Brunette: Blue Jeans and Orange

I often take a picture of my computer screen when I read a blog post and see an outfit that I can recreate from my closet. The latest one was this outfit from Suzy. Suzy (The Grey Brunette) has been inspired me not only by her outfits lately but also with her photography. She bought a new camera, a remote and tripod and has been learning how to use it and be creative by taking courses and practicing. Suzy lives in Portugal and has a beautiful backyard and surrounding where she takes most of her pictures. She also has been having fun editing her pictures sometimes creating some really artful…

    My Love for Sunflowers

My love from sunflowers comes from growing up in the south of France and the occasional trips to the Provence region where sunflower fields and lavender fields greet you! Of course there are fields in other parts of the south of France (we lived in the Languedoc Roussillon) and we would come accross fields there too. I remember going to camp in the summer and going into the fields and eating the seeds right off of a sunflower. For the past two years, I have planted sunflowers in front of our house in our little 2 ft by 8 ft raised bed as well as in the one in front…

    Zoo Atlanta: the Elephants

We ended our summer with a bang: the last week before school started I took the boys to both Zoo Atlanta and the Georgia aquarium. We have been to both before but it had been probably 2 to 3 years since we had been to the zoo and longer for the aquarium. We did not pack our lunch this time, only snacks and waters but I did buy the membership since it was only 15 dollars more than the price of admission for the 5 of us. The main thing that has been added in the past few years in the African Savanna area where the elephants have a bigger…
