Disc Golf and Planning Birthday Parties

December and January are hard months on the wallet in our family. After Nativity (Christmas) come two birthdays, 10 days apart. On the 3rd day of our vacation, our planned activity inspired me for birthday party themes for my soon to be 8 and 11 year olds. While in Morganton, NC, we came across a great park by the river with a fun and large playground as well as a full size disc golf park. We came across a wonderful park near the river with a great playground as well as a 18 hole disc golf park. My soon to be 11 year old loves disc golf which he learned…

Staying Warm with a Blanket Scarf

Since the Sunday Showcase link up is postponed till next Sunday, I decided to go ahead and my regular post on Sunday instead of Monday for those who might be looking for the link up and might be wondering. This is kind of weird to post this outfit as it is unseasonably warm this weekend with spring like weather in the upper 70s. I wasn’t planning to take pictures when we went to the Georgia Aquarium a couple of weeks ago but when we arrived and saw all of the pretty ornaments in the green in front of the aquarium and the Coca Cola building, I couldn’t pass up the…

Favorite Fall OOTD: Dresses and Skirts (Part 2)

I have to make more of a conscious effort to wear skirts and dresses in the cooler months but I usually wear them at least twice a week for church so I have enjoyed coming up with some layers to make all of mine weather appropriate. Fall and spring is when I wear my denim jackets the most. I really had fun making this light short sleeve camo dress appropriate for cooler weather. Since it looks like a tunic here, I am sharing it today. These are real leather boots and I can tell the difference between it and my Target boots and how those wear it or get marks…

Favorite Fall OOTD: November and December (part 1)

As I write this post and it is only mid December, I am thinking this might be a two part post. I love the change of season as it feels like my wardrobe is new, I have forgotten about some of my clothes and with it being a cooler season, there is an opportunity to wear different accessories such as hats, boots and scarves. Most of fall was dedicated to shopping from my closet and not buying any new clothes so I made sure to plan what I was going to wear because it helps me realize the variety I already possess in my closet. Today I will concentrate on…

    Holiday Date Night

I have been wanting to style this cute little suede skirt for a post for a while and today is the day! I plan to take this on our winter trip to North Carolina next week (we are going to hopefully have some snow fun!) and have a date night with the hubby. The skirt would have been better in size medium but I bought it on sale and not all size were on sale at the time so size small was it. I have a couple of other ideas to style this, one of which is casual with sneakers and a graphic tee and another with booties but for…

Holiday Looks with the Ageless Style

This month, the Ageless style ladies are sharing Holiday Looks! I am looking forward to seeing what everyone is wearing as I typically shop my closet for a comfy but special look for Christmas. Sometimes special might be my accessories such as statement earrings or shoes or a special top. For today’s look, I am wearing a Target sweater I picked up last winter that I think says statement and Christmas all in one. It pairs casually with jeans (see post here) but would be pretty over a sequined skirt. Since I do not have such a skirt, I wore it over a dress since I wanted slim lines on…

    Casual Beach Fall Outfit

I had to share these pictures before winter officially arrives! My son took these pictures for me on our last full day at the beach. That day turned out to me my favorite. It started with my daily coffee right after the sunrise (see my post here) and continued with the boys playing on the beach for a few hours that morning. I just sat back and enjoyed seeing them play and the views of the beach. After a yummy lunch at the condo (my husband grilled some tilapia and sauteed some tomato/onions and created a sandwich combo), we headed to Seaside. I changed out of my casual tee and…

    Fall Beach Outfits Recap

I was very pleased with what I packed to the beach this year: I actually wore everything at least once. There were a couple of days where I changed what I wore based on the weather. The mornings were cool but most warmed up to the 60s and 70s. I went with a casual but put together vibe with graphic tees and sweatshirts and joggers and my camo pants. I only my bermuda shorts one day as it was cooler the other days after we arrived. I was happy to wear my pastel layers for the beach. This top I found on clearance at Old Navy a little while back…

Silver Belles for the Sunday Showcase

Silver bells or silver belles? Why not both? Ada and I wanted to come up with something a little different for the holidays as we often think of red or green for the holidays and giving silver the spotlight seemed like a fun idea. Since I am shopping my closet till the end of the month (wahoo: this is a record for me, that will make it 2 and 1/2 months!), I turned to my shelves and hangers for inspiration. I was pretty sure I would wear this asymetrical top which I first wore here but what to pair with it? I tried several skirts but nothing I had was…

Advent Activities and a Date Night Look

Oftentimes when on vacation with some time on my hands I like to plan ahead. It might be meal planning, activity planning or planning for another vacation. During our vacation at the beach, I decided that I want to change up our advent calendar this year by adding service activities to our craft projects. I am trying to stress the real meaning of Christmas/Nativity to the children which is celebrating the birth of Christ as well as fostering the children’s empathy and spirit of giving. I sat with the boys one morning to get some input and ideas from them (both crafts and things that would be helpful to others)…
